UCCD, Westminster host Maibach EABC CEO kicks off Executive Lecture Series Westminster College and the Utah Council of Citizen Diplomacy are set to present a lecture by Michael Maibach on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall in the Emma Ecdes Jones ConserTrans-Atlant- ic Trade Mega-Trend- s: vatory. Entitled 2008-09 Ties &. Frayed Ties, the lecture is part of the American Express Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series. The Trans-Atlant- ic relationship is the single largest commercial relationship in the world. The powerful bilateral relationship fosters competiveness, economic growth and stability between the United States and Europe, as well as much of the world. However, as strong as the economic relationship is, the sociopolitical ties have been frayed by the Iraq War and wont be resolved without strong commitments from leaders on both sides of the Atlantic. Maibach has been president and CEO of the Business Council (EABC) since 2003. The EABC is an independent global business association of 75 companies with a win-w- in philosophy that supports unrestricted transatlantic investment and trade between the United States and Europe. Prior to heading EABC, Maibach served as vice president of government affairs at the Intel Corporation from 1983 to 2001. He holds several degrees, and has published dozens of essays on business, trade, technology and government. All lectures are free and open to the public. The 2008-200- 9 American Express Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series, in partnership with the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacys Ambassador John Price and Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series, is a learning-lectur- e experience that features distinguished speakers who are leading authorities in their field.
