Rock Band, a video game that lets players assume the roles of all members of a band through special controllers that simulate instruments, launched in the United States on Nov. 20, 2007. It was produced by Harmonix Music Systems, a video game developer that rose to prominence with its widely popular Guitar Hero series. It even lets players personalize the experience by outfitting their video game avatars with different clothing, hairstyles and instruments. Junior Colin Crebs purchased the game the day it was released. I it because Im a rock god at Guitar Hero, said Crebs, adding that This is the next generation of rhythm and party games. Within days, Crebs, roommate Michael Toone and a handful of friends had racked up several noise complaints ed from annoyed neighbors. We werent trying to be loud, said Toone, a sophomore. We just sort of got caught up in the game. Its a lot fun, and you dont really notice when youre getting loud. VOLUME XLI: ISSUE 9 The Kilby Court that was run under the direction of Bell and Sherborne was best known for its wide S &, draw of tame indie acts and S Booking Presents will be expanding the types of music getting booked at Kilby Court, too. Saunders and Sartain plan to add hip hop acts to the mix with Mac Lethal (Jan. 22) and Brother Ali (March 8) both scheduled to play. The venue will also continue to highlight Salt Lakes local talent with Deadbeats (Jan. 11), Jessica Something Jewish (Jan. 26), The Lionelle (Jan. 31) and others. Junior and Kilby regular Mitch Short isnt too worried about the venues future. It seems like it was time for it to happen. Kilby had kind of died down, and I think Will can bring it back around. I have only been to one show since the change, but it was competely sold out, said Short. Kilby Court is located at 741 South 300 West.
