Show THE FORUM 6 ' October 8. 2003 Name That Tune on Wild Wee Miranda Taft Staff Writer Westminster students wiU test their musical knowledge while playing Name That Tune for Wild Wednesday Game Night on Oct. 8 in the Shaw Center Synie Lounge. The activity, which begins at 8 p.m., is one of many game nights to take place throughout the Wild Wednesday series. According to ASWC Clubs and Organization Chair Chris Wharton, student government wants to keep a balanced mixture of comedians, lectures, game nights and movie nights for the Wednesday events. Were trying to keep a regular variety, he said. Unlike previous game nights students will not be required to sign up before this activity in order to participate. For Name That Tune, Wharton said, contestants will be selected from the audience on a volunteer basis. Anyone in attendance for this Wild Wednesday has a chance to win. ASWC is bringing in disc jockey James Kissell, a fresh- man here at Westminster College, to supply the music. Name That Tune, one of . the more popular eady game shows, originally aired from 1953 ' to 1959. The show was carried by both NBC and CBS stations. Hosted initially by Red Benson and Bill Cullen, the show was dropped in the midst of numerous quiz and game show scandals. It was one of many shows to be accused of controlling the outcomes of the game. There were a few comeback attempts in subsequent decades, including a syndicated version H &HU $ i mm that began in 1970. Three key players, Travis Nicolaides, Chad Gilbert and Brian Fairbanks, led the team in a tight game played down to the wire. Because it was a hard fought close game, it took a lot out of ' the players and the team, affecting the next game against Concordia University. Tyler LeBlanc, Zach Densley and Josh Maxfield had great defensive play. We had a great performance from the team playing with a lot of intensity, said Horrock. Horrock said that this past weekend was a good stepping stone for some hard games next weekend.
