Show Poulsons Picks by Kent Poulson Forum staff writer heaters: Orgamo: Hated NC-1- 7 Orgumo is a tale of Mormon In I missionary, I klcr Young. While serving his mission in sunny loll) wood California, he knocks on the door of a porno director. 'I he director thinks that he would be perfect for a role of Captain Orgamo, a porn superhero who takes out sleay villains with the use of a special "orgasm gun." Elder Young is not down with the idea at first, but needs the money so that he can marry his wholesome sweetheart in tne LDS temple in good old Salt Lake City. I Ie takes the job in hopes that no one he knows will ever see it. It turns out to be one of the most successful porn movies ever. Elder Young is an instant celebrity and graces the covers of national magazines. Eventually, his girlfriend finds out and is majorly pissed off. She goes to Hollywood to see what the heck is going on. Elder Young explains to her that he did it so they could get married. I Ie also has made plans for a sequel. All ends well. Orgazmo is somewhat controversial in the state of Utah. Could it be because of the NC-1- 7 rating? Could it be the heinous sex acts that flash across the screen? Could it be the portrayal of Mormon missionaries? The answer to these questions is simply this: no. Now people. Don't get all stressed out over the NC-1- 7 rating. I would have to say the main reason for the rating is religious slander. This might offend most of Utah, but it shouldn't. There is not even any nudity in the film. This could be a disappointment for those who are going to see something like Boogie Nights. Let's take a quick look at the facts. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, wrote the script together. There was quite a buzz in Tark City last year when Orgazmo was released at the Sundance 1 Film Festival. The film was made on a very small budget and stars Trey Parker as Elder Young. What does that tell you? Two guys that don't know about Mormons, Mormonism or Salt Lake City vv rote it. Since when do you need money to get married in the temple? It is obvious that Stone and Parker have no clue on the temple or missionary procedures. That's what makes this movie hilarious. 1 hat means it would almost be absurd to get offended at the movie. It is particularly funny to those who live here and do know about the Mormon religion. I laughed my ass off throughout the entire movie and, if you see it, you probably will too. Orgazmo is playing at the Tower Theater. Rating eight out of ten. Bar Review The Crocodile Lounge Upon entering The Crocodile Lounge, one might think that this is the smoothest bar in the state. This dim lit bar is a very comfortable place to knock back a few drinks and listen to some excellent local music. They also offer a nice menu full of lunches, dinners and snacks for those that have a serious case of the munchies. The dEcor of The Crocodile Lounge is very nice. It has a "jungle" feel to it. This can be credited to the large fake tees that serve as supports for the building. They have several tables throughout the establishment with plenty of seats for you and your fellow drinkers. You can also take a seat at the bar and have a chat with the bartender. If you are a hustler, feel free to play a game of pool on one of their pool tables. In addition to the indoor area, they have a large patio area. One can enjoy his or her cocktail outdoors when the weather is nice. It is also a nice refuge for the nonsmokers to get a breath of fresh air. There is also plenty of seating on the patio. The lounge has a band stage and dance floor if you want to get down. Others that received best costume were Zach Thornhill for "biggest hair," the Budman (his name is unknown) and alumni Brandon Mclear as the "Jolly Green Giant." Emily Murphy, Westminster student, said, "Overall, the evening was very festive. One of the highlights was when Zach Thornhill's gigantic brown afro flew off his head while boogying down to a disco favorite. I also liked the Jackson Five and their dance moves." Erin Archibald, Westminster student, said, "I enjoyed the dance more than last year, because there's more variety of music with a DJ as opposed to a live band, even though the DJ was ghetto and his CD's skipped." Archibald added, "The lip sync was a good idea, but should have been either at the beginning or end, rather than the middle because it took away from the dance." According to Paige Croswhite, ASWC the reason The Disco Drippersthe band who ias played for the last several Halloween dances didn't play this year was because they had already been booked for the past year at the Zephyr Club. Crosswhite also said there was a big request for a DJ this year in order for a larger selection of music. She said next year the Halloween party will nave a band. vice-preside- photo by Amy Young live it up at the Westminster Halloween Dance. Thornhill won the contest for biggest hair.
