Its ok, she says, because I cant find heels so I dont have to wear them. People ask me how I balance with such small feet, I tell them Ive been walking for 20 years and am doing fine, she says. In fact, balance has been one of her greatest attributes, says Coach Marinda Ashman. has made a lot of Sonya I asked have her to do progress. things I didnt even think she was capable of doing but she went out and did it, Ashman said, She has been a quiet leader giving it everything shes got. Off the court, Palmer maintains a reputable grade point average studying biology with aspirations to go to medical school and become a surgeon. She enjoys volleyball as a stress relieving activity and says playing on the college level is something she never imagined. I was attracted to Westminster because it was a small school and I come from a small town (Cedaredge, CO.). I never thought I would have the chance to play. Marinda was the first coach who ever gave me an opportunity to show my ability, Palmer says. Ashman says Palmer is a coaches dream come true, She has done everything I have asked her. She was hustling before the team knew how to hustle. She works hard and helps everyone else to work hard. Palmer says the hardest co.me close to winning their first game in their final home and had several nice digs. She really made a difference.
