According to Jackie Haus, director of campus life, over 160 tickets were sold; this number was up from last years Founders Day Dance. The dance was. held at the Olympic Hotel in Park City. Before the dance, bus and van transportation was provided to the Heber Creeper in Heber. Haus said about 130 people rode the old fashioned steam train. Econo: muleal Intern By Laurie Staton-CartWestminster economics major Janet Cypher has been accepted for an intership with the Institute on Comparative Political and Economics Systems. She was also awarded merit scholarship of 1,440 to cover program. The 19 th tuition for the k annual Institute, sponsored by The Fund for American Studies, will be held June 3 through July 16 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. A total of 110 students from campuses across the nation were accepted for this year's institute. Included in this years Institute offerings classes, the Walter Judd are two three-cred- it Policy Lecture Series and other special events. This years classes, Comparative Economic Systems and Comparative Political Systems, are taught by Georgetown University faculty members Dr. George Viksnins and Dr, Karl H. Cemy. Comparative Economics Systems offers a theoretical comparison of the market economy and central planning. Marxism, Communism; the problems facing Third World countries reanalyzed and the design of a new Economic Order' .is discussed. Comparative Political Systems concerns the meaning, content and significance of the American political system as stressed through comparison with political systems in Western Europe, the totalitarian Communist bloc and other parts of the world." There was also transportation back to Westminster at the end of the evening. The dance itself began almost immediately after students arrived at the hotel. The band "Paint by Numbers" was booked by former ASWC Vice President Noelle Frank. They played the music of such favorites as INXS. the Cure, UB40, Aerosmlth and others. From the size of the crowd that never seemed to leave the dance floor, it appeared the band was well liked. The dance was a lot of fun and the band was really good." said freshman Chris Tucker. This year a formal dinnerwas not served at the dance. Haus said this was because the response had not been good to having dinner at the dance in previous years.
