Show WILLIAM km A BAY well known utah businessman whose death came almost without warning at garland almost without warning death came to william A ray at his home in garland on oil thursday evening at his remains were brought to this city yesterday and his funeral will take ake place monday afternoon at 4 from the residence esl dence of his sister ln in law mrs E LI davis east fourth south interment will be in the city cem cemetery eatery The deceased was one of the best known of the country town business men in the state of utah he was born in mississippi in 1849 IS 4 9 and came to utah with his parents ln in the effay fio new as 1 n the ars wa rd I 1 of this city Hs his father was john A ray president of 21 lillard stake it was in millard county where mr ray engaged most extensively in his earlier business career he represented I 1 that part of the state in the legislature in 1897 8 after his law mak ing term had expired he moved from deseret and came to salt lake where he established the firm of ray sons commission merchants from here he went to garland and became the pioneer merchant of that town there here lie he built up a large and prosperous business and there lie he was living when seized with a lit fit of apoplexy dying within half an hour prior to the appearance of this illness he had been in the very best of health not displaying the least kympton of sickness and being in a most cheerful and jocular mood the deceased was a man of unquestionable tio business ability and general integrity lie he possessed a host of friends who will mo mourn urn his sudden I 1 and apparently untimely departure he had been married 28 years his wife being a daughter of the late president hinckley of the mallard stake in addition to her he leaves five children lucian A ray merchandise broker W W ray lawyer minnie ray a daughter visiting at pacific grove cal from which place she Is hastening to this city where she will arrive on monday morning don ray a member of the university of utah football team of last year and paul a 13 year old boy who was with his father at the time he was so suddenly overtaken by death deseret news hows |
