To the Editors and Citizens of the Community: Since there are so many opinions and so much controversy about the Carbon High Schoo' Homecoming parade, please let me voice mine. I think this one was the best Homecoming Parade we have ever had. Mr. Galbraith, parade chairman, deserves a large vote of thanks from all the grateful parents of our high school kids. I was in and out of the city garage many times during the week before this parade. 1 know Mr. Galbraith spent many hours guiding and helping these young people. I am sure it must have been far more inconvenient for him to do this, than for some people to walk one half block to I never heard see the ' parade! him complain. He used his car and furnished the gasoline to run errands. He even offered to taxi some of the students home because it was so late at night and he wanted to be sure they were not left on the streets. There wasnt any extra money given him for this and I am sure he had the interest of our young people in mind. As for the insinuation (that this parade was deliberately routed up Carbon Avenue because Walker Bank had a branch in Spring-vill- e is ridiculous! The students at our school dont care where Walker has a branch. These kids have been awarded the sportsmanship trophy two years in a row and this trophy is not easily won. As for Walker Bank and itr Tcrscnal they have always been velcome in our itown. Why single hem out? Why accuse our own high school of bad sportsmanship? Its bad enough fer outsiders to criticise. I hope they dont have too many boosters like the lady wtho wrote he published Public Forum on Oct. 5, 1967! If this lady had checked with her child she would have known the parade was routed up Carbon Avenue because the Junior High School people were unable to come downtown to see it. I think this was a nice gesture on the part of our kids. Lets not downgrade these young people for the kindness and thoughtfulness they showed to those who will follow them into our high school. We have a good school at Carbon high. I was proud of all the students and the teachers who helped with time and money to make this Homecoming the success that it was. We need more of thus in our town, lets encour- age SSGT.
