ADVOCATE, PRICE, UTAH Thursday, May 11, 1961 Carbon High Coeds to Present Portrait of A Deb May 17th Teenage fashions in all their beauty will capture the social spotlight Wednesday evening, May 17, at 7.30 p.m. Thats the date of the annual Carbon High School spring fashion show and tea in honor of all coeds and their mothers. The girls and their mothers hav e been extended invitations to this colorful affair by the Girls League and by the homemaking students who have been hustling around making last minute preparations. Commentators Pat Bosone, Carol Zaccaria, Claudene Burtenshaw, ACCEPT PEP LEADERSHIP . . . Looking forward to Pep Club activities at Carbon High School during the 1961-6- 2 school year are these five young leaders of the noted organization. Carbon Pep Club Has Closing Banquet CIRCLES MAY 25 . . . Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kochevar of Spring Glen tins week made know'n the approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Betty Kochevar of 627 Third Avenue, Salt Lake City, to George Byron McLeese of 335 East Broadway, Salt Lake City. Mr. McLeese is the son of Mrs. Bernece M. Bruner of 105 Lack Street, San Francisco, California. Plans for the wedding date include a ceremony on May 25 at Salt Lake City. Miss Kochevar is a graduate of Carbon High School and her fiance attended the University of Utah where he is workwas affiliated with Sigma Nu. Currently the bride-eleing at the Home Building and Loan Association in Salt Lake City and Mr. McLeese is employed by the Hercules plant. They will make their home in Salt Lake City. ct WHimHimHIIIIIHHimHHHIIIHHHH Well Meet Again" keyed evening decorations and events Thursday, April 27, for the annual closing banquet of the Carbon Pep Club. The tables were beautifully decorated with a birthday doll set at each place. During the banquet the senior Peppers were given toasts by the junior Peppers who then presented them with a Pep Doll, a replica of a Pep Girl. The speakers table held a beautiful blue and white centerpiece with the letters PEP spelled out with white carnations and blue ribbon bow trim. Each senior Pepper was presented wdth a matching carnation corsage with a tiny P of blue chenile. Gift vaub The program booklets which were designed by Marilyn Gardner were in the form of a dainty miss and the Pep club memory books were made by Judy Costello, Judith Nielsen and Ann Masini and presented to every member. Miss Gardner was introduced as the toastmistress and presented with a lovely corsage. She then presented tokens of appreciation and corsages to the outgoing pres- - ident, Sandra Scartezina and the two advisors, Mary Pizza and Barbara Briggs. The program consisted of remarks by Miss Scartezina, the theme song by Bonnie Anderson, Diane Wallace and Jeanne Mathis; humorous reading by Dana Curtis; remarks by the advisors; and the farewell song which was written by Molly Tabone and sung by the junior Peppers. Then Miss Scartezina turned her office as president over to Nancy Pace; Carol Reid turned the vicepresidency over to Carolyn Moore; Pat Bosone announced Judy Costello as secretary; Jona Costello released her office as treasurer to Marsha Snow; Catherine Neil-se- n turned her historian books over to Shirley Juvan, and then the drill masters for the coming year were announced as Karen Robertson and Lynne Olsen. At the close of the banquet all the Peppers joined in the singing of traditional Pep song. Chairman for this affair was Marilyn Gardner of Helper. their Molly Tabone and Marilyn Gardner will put the show on the runway in a burst of color as the sewing students model their own creations to the theme of Portrait of a Deb, in the high school auditorium. Fashions will include clothes for every occasion around the clock . . . playtime, school time, daytime, and the breath-takin- g finale of adorable evening wear which will be sure to please. A timely program of music and dance is being arranged by Karen Robertson and will introduce each sequence of the show which is under the direction of Mrs. Mary Pizza, clothing instructor. At the close of the show there will be a social hour with the officers of the Girls League and their advisor, Mrs. Verda Petersen, presiding. The program was under the direction of the membership chairman. Guest speaker was B. L. Dart, Price attorney and district juvenile judge. He talked on Law Candidate Sylvia Krajnc Days. was enrolled. The business meeting was followed by a social period during which time refreshments w'ere served. An officers meeting will be held May 18 at 7.30 pm. at the home of Phyllis Brinley.
