Show 4 fhe Sun - Qdlvoc&te Second Section Thursday, November 17, 1960 PRICE, UTAH No Change Noted Scene in October October unemployment in Utah was unchanged from September, reported Curtis P. Harding, administrator of the states employment security department, in the agencys monthly report on Joblessness. Total unemployment at 13,800 was held to its September level in factories in Salt by lay-of- fs Lake City and Provo, in spite of return to work of some 400 miners in the Price area, he said. Normally, we get a drop between September and October of from 5 to 10 per cent," Mr. Harding pointed out. "Of the 13,800 unemployed, 4,652 individuals claimed unemployment of insurance during the mid-wee- k the month. This is an increase of 225 over the same week the month before.. Mr. Harding pointed out that turnover among the unemployed is quite high indicating that a great many of the unemployed are without jobs for relatively short periods of time. Added to the 4,427 unemployed as of were 3,400 newly unemployed during the following four week period . But in spite of this addition, we ended up the period with a net increase of only 225, Mr. Harding said. Start of school in September reduced unemployment in professional occupations, he said, while calls for help in metals and food processing caused a slight reduction among foremen and other management workers. There was a 26 per cent reduction in the number of male unemployed workers under 45 years of age, as the number dropped from 731 in September to 541 in Christmas Seal time is here again this year, and your local TB association invites you to buy yourself a share of good health by sending in your Christmas Seal contribution promptly when you receive your Christmas Seal letter. This is also the time when the community at large gets its chance to take care of its own. Thats our American way of doing things. Through Christmas Seal contributions we teach people how to protect themselves against TB. That means everybody. Because TB overlooks no age group, and finds almost half of its victims among people between 15 and 45 years old. That really is the prime of life, the most productive years.
