Show New Cubmaster Starts Leader Duties At Kenilworth Pack Meeting Friday Eve Raymond Etsell took over the duties of Cubmaster at pack meet- tag Friday evening at the chapel. The retiring Cubmaster, William Oocco, made the introduction to Cub Scouts, parents and dan mo thers. He was given gifts by the appreciative boys and their den rsothers. Following a musical skit done by Naomi Olsen's den, awards were presented through the parents to Steven and David Clark, Stephen Etsell, Timothy Warren, George Richards, Glennis Smith, Kenneth Olsen, Eddie and Jerry Fran- Anderson, David Burnside, cis Duzenack, Robbie Jewkes and Jack Marshall. The gang adjourned to the confectionary with the treats on Mr. Oocco. The Clarence Edwards family hunted deer on Blue Mountain near Vernal last Saturday. The Harold Mortensen, Garth Muscular Dystrophy Fund Drive Slated For November 19-2- 4 The 1956 muscular dystrophy fund drive will be held throughout the nation during the week of November 19 through the 24. This was announced this week by Emerson S. Smith, president of the Salt Lake county chapter. Mr. Smith also announced the appointment of Mrs. Fay Hayes as state campaign chairman. Mrs. .Hayes has conducted drives for the Heart Association and other charitable groups. Utah has one of the highest per capita number of children and adults suffering from muscular dystrophy. The cause and cure of this disease are unknown. The National Muscular Dystrophy Association now maintains 80 medical research grants throughout the world where scientists are seeking to find these answers. Volunteer workers are needed throughout the state and those desiring to help are asked to contact the state fund drive headquarters at 156 East Broadway, Salt Lake City. PENCILS The Sun-Advoo- Let Hyatt and Merlin Anderson families met Mr. and Mrs. Dee Hyatt of Richfield at Red Creek, 15 miles out of the town of Emery, for a family celebration to honor Dee Hyatt's birthday Sunday. The family reunion featured the playing of games, a rifle shoot and a whopper of a picnic. The fifth and sixth graders are taking turns writing friendly letters to Judy Rudman, a class member invalided by rheumatic fever. The daily missives bring cheer to the young girl, who has had to remain in bed for weeks and even months at a time. Three times a week Principal Olive Hughes pays a call to teach the sixth grade work to Judy and to help her keep up with the class. Claud Olsen will represent Kenilworth Local 5861 at the United Mine Workers convention at Cincinnati, Ohio, from October 2 until the 10. He will leave by train Friday, September 28. Richard Charlesworth, stationed at Ansback, Germany, wrote his parents that he recently was in Munich on a sightseeing trip. Around Christmas time he will be granted a leave of absence to tour Switzerland, England, France and other European countries. The tour will take about three weeks. Jennie Polve has been visiting in Kamas with the Glendon Jewkes and with Adella Last and children who were also guests at the Jewkes home. Don and Rose Marie Harmond and infant daughter, Desiree, of have been Colorado, Denver, spending a two week vacation with the Ralph Folumhuses.
