Show Thursday, August 12, 1954 THE SUN-ADVOCA- Page Three Achievements of Little Leaguers Highlights Sunnyside News Everyone in Sunnyside who has been following the games of the Little Leaguers were extremely proud of the game our All Stars played in a recent play-of- f here and at Helper. Each of the 14 players on the team is to be highly commended for his outstanding playing. The four days of the play offs in Helper saw dozens of cars from here each day for the games. Many of the men went to Work early in order to have their shift finished in time for the games and some of the men even laid off and missed a days work so they would .see the games. The game that insured them a place at the Helper meet was played on their home field with the All Stars of Wellington and gave them a victory of 26 to 0. Bobby Murphy pitched a 13 strike out game with only two hits and had a perfect fielding support. The players didnt make an error and Gene Janello hit a home run over the center field fence in the first inning. The play-off- s at Helper started Monday with Sunnyside playing against Glen Rock, Wyoming. Gene Janello was on the mound for Sunnyside and pitched four innings when he was relieved by Arthur Aguayo. Ronnie Ross got a home run and the game ended 16 to 0 for Sunnyside. On Tuesday the game with Price was called off in the third inning because of. rain. The score at that time was 9 to 4 for the Sunnyside All Stars. The game, called for Wednesday at 9 a.m., was postponed until .late afternoon because the field was too wt. The game continued where it was interrupted with Bobby Mur-pr- y again going for Sunnyside. -- ond place among the wards for Spring Glen News The final score was 15 to 10 for Mark Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Ma Sunnyside.
