Sunnydale Shower : Saturday ' Army Asks 53,000 Honors May Service Call Bride-to-b- Mrs. Van Alger entertained at a lovely bridal shower Saturday afternoon and evening at her home on Edghill Drive for Miss June McFarland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McFarland of Sunnydale, who is to marry Leon Stevenson of Columbia. More than 75 ladies called during the afternoon and evening and June received many lovely and useful gifts. Besides those from Sunnyside and Sunnydale there were many other friends from Dragerton and Mrs. Melvin Stevenson, Mrs. Dan Stevenson, Sr. and Mrs. Dan Stevenson, Jr. from Columbia. During the afternoon the hostess had the misfortune to pull the ligiments in her foot and was taken to the Dragerton hospital where she spent two hours but she returned home and is much better. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Terrell and four daughters from Grand Junction, Colorado, visited at the Jimmy Howa home last week. Mrs. Terrell and Mrs. Howa are school girl friends and enjoyed their visit very much. Boyd Alger, son of M r.and Mrs. Lee Alger, was operated on in the Dragerton hospital last week and is getting along very well. After recuperating from the operation he plans to join the air force. Another son, Ray, formerly from Denver, Colorado, spent a few days with his parents and family on his way to Alaska where he plans to make his home. Bud Manchester has been in the Dragerton hospital for more than a week for treatment but is much better and expects to be home soon.
