Show Thursday, May 8, 1952 fHE Page Five SUN-ADVOCA- Wellington First Ward MIA Stages Mirthful Program little Darling, a delightful play, was presented by members of the Wellington First Ward Mutual Improvement Association, together with an entertaining pantomime, Lorna Loons Fate, in a mirth provoking entertainment held in the church house on Thursday evening of last week. Alfred Powell, suiperinten- -! dent of the First ward MIA was in charge of the program and introduced Ira Milton Marshall as master of ceremonies. Mr. Marshall was ably assisted by Dale Wells in a series of jokes and comic stunts. Other numbers on the program included a vocal solo by Charles V. Bradshaw with guitar accompaniment by Donald Cox, a tap dance by Miss Emma vean Adams and Miss Melissa Noyes, aocordian solo by Bartell Mortensen, vocal solo with 6elf accompaniment on the guitar by Jerry Mead, aocordian numbers by Wiliam J. Atwood, harmonica selections by Clement Atwood and piano solo and duet by Don Butler and his teacher, Mrs. Weight, of Dragerton. People taking part in the play included Miss Emma Jean Adams, Miss Janice Marshall, Mr. Clement Atwood, Miss Jolene Ericson, Mr. Gareth Peterson and Miss IvaLu Stoddard. Characters In the pantomime included Mrs. Marie Gerber, Mrs. Dora Powell, Mrs. Maple Davis, Mrs. Avella Stewart, and Mrs. Violet Peterson. A traffic dance completed the evenings one-a- ct vk We Have A Large Variety of Clean-u.- p operations were conducted in the Wellington park and also the cemetery Saturday morning under the direction of the town board members. Work was done by a large number of young boys who afterwards enjoyed free hot dogs and root beer. Under the direction of Marvous Mortensen, a group of young boys of age gathered at the school grounds Saturday morning for an exciting baseball game. The youngsters 'brought their balls, bats and mits, and1 chose up sides for a couple ofj hours of real fun, with Mr. Mortensen doing the umpiring. The youngsters are hoping to make these weekly games a regular oc- curance this summer. Gene Chantry, Miss Marilyn Campbell and R. D. Campbell, Roy together with Mr. and Mrs. Fer-ron Campbell and family, went to on Thursday to attend the Junior live stock show, where the three H youngsters from Wei-- 1 lington displayed their calves. Elder Louvaine Bitten, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Bitton, returned home on Thursday, just one day prior to his twenty-thir- d birthday anniversary, from the Great Lakes Mission, with headquarters at Fort Wayne, Indiana. At the time of his release, Elder Bitton had been laboring in Linton, Indiana. He had been gone from home for the past two years. Elder H. Arbor Mortensen and Elder and Mrs. George Milner, Jr., will be honored at a welcome home party on Saturday evening May 17, in the ward chapel. The party for these three missionaries had previously been announced for May 10, but beoause of con- flicting dates, has been postponed until the following week. Elder Mortensen served in the Texas-- 1 Louisiana mission field and the Milners in the Spanish American mission. Following the program, a dance will be held, during which time aprons and much beautiful handwork, including special Mo- thers Day gifts, will be on sale. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Stoddard and tiny daughter of Salt Lake City visited in Wellington last week end at the home of Morris parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Earl Stoddard. Mrs. Marond Hanson of Scofield has been spending the past week., in Wellington. Deacons, teachers and priests of the Wellington Second ward and girls of the corresponding age groups are planning an evening of fun to be held in the church house Friday evening, May 9, beginning at 7:30. Girls aTe asked to bring .pies and the boys 50c each for ice cream. Members of Tom Wells Sunday school class held an outdoor party and hike on Tuesday evening.
