Last Friday night the Peppers added to the holiday spirit by singing carols in the business and residential districts. J SUN-ADVOCA- MERRY CHRISTMAS PARTY NOTES HOLIDAY SEASON It was a merry Chnstmas party for the Dansante Dancing club members Saturday night at the Country club and all the gaiety and fun was a memorable prelude to the gala holidays. Art Nicholson was the genial master of ceremonies over the dinner program. "Frosty the Snowman was a clever novelty number. A male quartet, composed of Isaac Ross Boyack, Ruel McQjeen, Redd and Byron Thompson sang the song while Frosty, portrayed by Harris Simonsen performed, assisted by Marjorie Redd and Merilee Davis. The girls also entertained with a dance number Let It Snow. Carl Olson gave a humorous reading, I Youst Go Nuts at Christmas. Everyone joined in the singing of Christmas carols led by Mrs. Fred Jones and Walt Maynard. Mrs. Eugene Cromar, Mrs. Ruel Redd and Mrs. Byron Thompson were the accompanists for the musical numbers. The beautiful table decorations caught the eyes of everyone. Small silver trees were covered with angels hair and decked with colored balls. At the mam table golden bells tied with white ribbons were arranged with pine boughs and white tapers Hand painted place cards were attached to the lovely figurine ballet dancers which were special favors for each couple. for the party Arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Perry Codington, chairman, Mrs. Harris Simonsen, Mis. Isaac McQueen, Mrs. Quinn Whiting, Mrs. Art Nicholson, Mrs. Allan Browne and Mrs. Edway Redd PARTY MARKS SEASON FOR LADIES OF ELKS The Ladies of Elks chalked up another successful social event when they held their traditional Christmas party at the Elk club rooms on Wednesday night of last week. Predominate with holy wreaths, greenery and a huge Chiistmas tree. Santa Claus had promised to be good to all members so he was given a royal welcome upon his arrival after which he distributed gifts and announced the program. The numbers included solo tap, Marjorie Redd; ballet tap, Linda Hmkins, Marjorie Redd, Darlene Denison, Linda 'Hinkins, Nilene Washburn and Roger Hinkins, ballet; readings, Mrs. Lyle Lamph; carol singing Mrs. Ace Roberts by everyone. portrayed Santa Claus. Refreshments were served from a table covered with a lace cloth centered with candles burning in a yule log encircled with pine bows and Christmas ornaments. for the party Arrangements were in charge of Glenna Hansen, Helen Kilfoyle and chairman, Lynette Goetzman, decorations; Alice Quinn, Jeanne Moynier and Lucille Pace, program; Mabel Peacock, Lois Taylor, Leah Warren, Hazel Williams and Edith Allred, refreshments. OPHELIA COETTES GUEST OF CULTURA MEETING The Cultura club held its semimonthly meeting at the Good Shepherd hall Thursday, Decem-be- er 14. Mae Bowen, president, presided and Mrs. Larry Stevens arranged the program. The Ophelia Coettes were the guests and included Fay Olsen, Patsy Mahan, Sharon Stoddard, Katheryn Zele, Beverly McFarland, Marion Duerney, Myrleen Stevenson, Patricia Skraznas,Ar-det- h Gibson, Betty Blevins. Sextette chorus from the junior high school, under the direction of Mrs. Mike Mihalik sang two songs. The girls in the chorus included Patsy Anderson, Gaye Fausett, Patricia McCourt, Joan Heer and Nancy Graham. Father Sanders gave a very interesting talk on the Christmas customs of Holland. Refreshments were served and gifts were exchanged. Mrs. Success, Prosperity and Constant Hope attend you May the year to come touch you HOLIDAY PARTY FOR EL NOVICE CLUB The members of the El Novice club and their partners were holiday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carlson last Friday evening and plenty of fun was included in the social affair. In a holiday atmosphere dinner was served and afterwards everyone played bin-g- o. White elephant prizes were won and holiday gifts exchanged. The guest list comprised Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fergusson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hudson, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Migliore, Mr. and Mrs. Antone Dupin, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. W. A. Izza Camp Fire girls met at the home of its leader, Mrs. Fred Deffendol. The meeting was called to order by Marjorie Redd, preesident, after which Colleen Powell lead the girls in their camp fire songs. The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Deffendol. The girls opened their gifts and then had refreshments. |
