Arrangements for the social affair were in charge of Mrs. Charles Menzies, chairman and assisting were Mrs. Sophia Roberts, Mrs. Opollo Hansen, Mrs. Pace and Mrs. West. On Sunday of a week ago a group of thirty-tw- o faculty members and their wives journed to scenic Dead Horse Point near Moab to spend the day. Everyone packed their own box lunches and the social committee with Byron Thompson, chairman, furnished ice cream and pop. The group enjoyed the clear cool day admiring the scenic wonders of that area. May 16, at the Helper civic auditorium beginning at 7:30. A dessert luncheon will be served preceding cards. During the evening a crotched afghan will be raffled off. The afghan is now on display at the Blue Bonnet shop. Mrs. Rose Miner is the Afghan chairman. Mrs. Fred Reynolds is the general chairman of the party arrangements. Mar-tense- La-Va- un MOTHERS HONORED AT BANQUET Fashions That Our Mothers Used to Wear a refrain of a number of years ago was Tuesday night when todays daughters dressed in the styles their mothers wore and entertained their mothers at a banquet at the college cafeteria. Todays daughters were the Eaglettes and Pi Gamma Chi sorority girls of Carbon college who arranged the Mothers day banquet in honor of their mothers. The skit, Fashions That Our Mothers Wore was the highlight of the banquet. Miss Theodora Karras was the reader and Miss Janice Fisher furnished the musical accompaniment. Participants in the skit were Miss Cara Redd, Miss Charmaine Hill, Miss Beth Frandsen and Miss Nan Leonard. As part of the program, favorite songs of their mothers were sung by everyone and each mother was introduced by her daughter with an original appropriate verse.
