Chief Justice Pratt then will swear in state officials in the following order: Heber Bennion, Jr., secretary of state; Reese M. Reese, auditor; Ferrell II. Adams, treasurer; Clinton D. Vernon, attorney general, and Dr. E. Allen Bateman, superintendent of public instruction, General West will then intro-- J duce Governor Lee who will his inaugural address. After a musical selection, Rev. George J. Weber, minister of the First Congregational church, will ask benediction. Following the ceremony, a public reception will take place in the Gold room at which time all newly elected officers wifi lorm a receiving line. Governor Lee will be the ninth governor since Utah became a state in 1896 and the first native Utahn to be elected to the state's highest office. Mr. Lee was born in Price on January 7, 1899, a son of A. J. and Ida Leiter Lee. He attended Price schools and is a graduate of the Carbon county high school. He has lived in Price during most of his life. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Lee has long beSn active in Utah politics. He has served 12 years as mayor of Price and was the Republican partys nominee for congress from the First Utah district in 1942, a race he lost to Walter K. Granger by 269 votes. He was his partys nominee for governor in 1944 and was defeated by Governor Herbert B. Maw, present governor, by a little more than 1000 votes. His popularity was felt in that election by the fact that he led his partys other candidates by some 50,000 votes. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 1940. Mr. Lees predecessors as governor number eight and include the following: Heber M. Wells, first state governor and a Republican. He was succeeded by John C. Cutler and William Spry, respectively, both Republicans. The latter was succeeded by Simon Bamberger, a Democrat, and the states first Democratic governor. Governor Mabey was the next in line and he was followed by Governor Dern. Governor Henry H. The young girl left her grandmothers home in Price to go to Cleveland, Emery county, to visit a girl friend. She had enough money with her at the time to make the trip by bus. Miss Brown weighs 160 pounds, is five feet five inches in height, has brown eyes and brown hair. At the time she left she was wearing a cowgirl outfit.
