The plane, owned by the Marsh Aviation company of Phoenix, was on its way to an Idaho point carrying the pilot and three passengers, another man, a woman and old child. It encouna five-yetered the storm over Wellington and circled that town several times at low altitudes looking for a place to make a landing. Several Wellington residents, realizing the plane was in trouble, ran their cars onto the highway and directed their lights into the open fields. It was reported that at least four emergency landing fields were lighted up within a matter of a few minutes. Tne plane finally landed in a 400-fofield owned by Clinton Gerber who had set up makeshift flares to guide the plane to the ground.
