It is estimated that the deduction would be approximately three per cent and not to exceed $ti.OO per month of each employees salary. The city would then match all deductions and it is estimated that this would cost the city $3500 per year. There are now approximately 60 employees on the city payroll who would come under the proposed plan Should an employee quit his job prior to the time he is eligible for retirement he eould draw from the fund only the amount that had been deducted from his earnings. City employees maintain that this system would compensate for the social security benefits which do not accrue to them as it does for employees in private industry. Mayor J. Bracken Lee apiminted a committee consisting of Coun-cilmJohn Holden, Marcel selme and Murray Mathis to work with the city employees committee in drafting an ordinance similar to those now tn effect in other Utah cities. Should ti e oriinince be accepted, it will be published in this newspaper in three consecen utive issues.
