Show TIIE Tage Eight CARNIVAL FIGHT BRINGS $20,000 SUIT IN COURT A civil suit seeking $20,325 damages was filed with the Seventh judicial court here Tuesday by William A. Walton against Tommie B. Chandler. The suit claims that Walton lost one eye and received other injuries when Chandler without cause or provocation attacked him on the night of September 25 at the Carbon county fair grounds. Both men were concession operators with Monte Youngs carnival. According to the complaint the defendant beat and bruised him about the face, head, neck, back and chest by kicking and striking with his fists; that in said attack the defendant had and held in his right fist an end wrench and with it struck Walton in the right eye and thereby caused a complete loss of sight in that eye. Six cases of poliomyelitis were reported during the week as compared with 10 cases for the previous week, and 16 cases for the same week last year. Five of the polio cases reported this week are residents, and one case is a nonresident from a neighboring state. The five resident cases were as follows: Carbon county 1, Salt Lake City 3, and Ogden 1. The patients range from 5 to 22 years of age. Two cases of tularemia were reported; 1 from Salt Lake City, and the other from Salt Lake county. The infection in one case was contracted as a result of deer fly bites, and in the other through the ed handling of jack rabbits. Health officers from Price city, Daggett, Iron, Morgan, and San Juan counties failed to submit a communicable disease report. No diseases were reported from Brigham, Logan and Cedar cities, and Emery, Grand, Kane, Piute, Rich, Sevier, Tooele, Uintah, Wasatch, Washington and Wayne counties. He stated that it would be impossible to go on from year to year asking aid from the legislature to see the school year completed. He stated that this procedure was too expensive and consumed a lot of valuable time each year. Superintendent Reeves stated that he wished everyone would read the amendments now being published on page 15 of this issue so that they would have a clear understanding of what is being asked of the voters.
