Show Thursday, August WARNING ISSUED ON SOLICITORS, CASTLE GATE NEWS PEDDLERS BY RETAIL ASSOCIATION Warning has been sounded by various civic organizations throughout the country, about the large number of solicitors that are now moving around, with the return of unrationed gas. The Price Retail Merchants association together with the Carbon County Associated Industries are issuing a word of caution to their members. A special committee has been set up for this purpose, and all members of either organization are requested to see a permit before subscribing to any fund or making any contribution. To obtain such a permit, the solicitor must present his program to these organizations, where it will be passed upon by the committee, and if found worthy proper authority will be granted. Many of the members of this Sgt. John Delaby left last Tuesday for Salt Lake City, then to California where he is stationed. Cadet Nurse Helen Gow of the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Gow. Mrs. Howard Ludwig gave a group have been saved many times what they have paid in contributions to the Associated Industries and Retail Meerchants association by not being solicited by groups who have failed to obtain permission. Outside solicitors must present their case, and await the meeting of the committee for action. It is suggested that no one make any contribution without first asking to see the permission. Another program that is being closely watched is the door to door salesman who fails to buy a license. Remember that your local merchant is in business in your city, and pays his taxes, and helps carry the community program. When any peddler comes to your door, see that he has secured his license to sell to you if he is a is the warning given by the association. quilting party at her home last Wednesday. Processing Filled jars, with lids adjusted, are submerged in hot water in a deep kettle fitted with s jack. Water covers jars by at least one inch. Count processing time when water begins to boil. Pressure Cooker (Be sure to have pressure gauge checked for accuracy.) This is the only safe method of canning meat, fish, poultry and all vegetables other than tomatoes. Other methods give inadequate sterilization of these foodstuffs; food poisoning and botulism majf develop. To be completely safe, boil home-canne- d corn and greens 20 minutes, all other vegetables, except tomatoes, meats, poultry and fish 10 minutes in an open kettle before tasting or serving.
