Bed grounds have been eliminated, and the sheep stay wherever night overtakes them. Contrary to general belief, this practice has not seemingly increased the loss from predatory animals, and it has eliminated the trampling of vegetation and killing of the range around permanent bed grounds. The evidence of the benefit of these practices may be seen in the of grass in the gully bottoms. There are several beaver dams already built which have aided in controlling the flood waters and have leveled several gullies. These streams may now become sanctuaries for fish and other wildlife. The soil conservation district wishes to congratulate the Brunos on the progress that has been made, and invites the cooperation of other livestock owners and ranchers in conserving our soil and increasing incomes through proper management their Information Given On Illegitimate Children In Utah NONE In 1944 130 babies were reportBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Recorder is hereby ed in Utah born out of wedlock. authorized to transfer funds from the General Fund; One Mill The great of these were majority to the Special Improvement Guaranty Fund, (1) one mill to the Caradopted. negie Library Fund for the year 1945. An amended certificate, showing the infant as the natural child of its foster parents, replaces the original certificate, which is removed from the regular files and placed, together with the adoption decree, in a sealed envelope where it will never be referred to except upon legal demand, or in case it becomes necessary for purposes of inheritance for that child to prove his true parentage. The same regulation is applied to the birth records of children illegitimately born but subsequently legitimized by the marriage of the parents, based, of course, upon a certified copy of the marriage certificate. The necessary forms and instructions can be obtained from the state department of health upon request. Mayer, state director of the war manpower commission announced this week. While expressing certainty that the gold mine operators and workers seeking employment in the gold mines would cooperate with existing manpower programs, he urged that all such employers and workers consult with the local USES office to avoid possible violation of regulations. We are certain that neither the government nor the operators expect gold mining operations to be staffed at the expense of more essential production, he said. Mr. Mayer explained that any employment service extended to gold mines would be identical with that given to any activity which is not included in the WMC list of essential activities. All currently effective provisions of the employment stabilization program, ceilings, priority referrals and all other phases of the area program must be observed. In most instances, this will require that workers who have been employed in an eisential activity within the past 60 days must present statements of availabilty or referral by the USES. Only the local offices of the USES will be in a position to determine what manpower will be Survey Underscores Indispensability Of Newspapers As Source of News, Advertising A large majority of the public convinced that there is no for newsadequate substitute papers. In the first survey, in answer to the question: Are you getting most of your news from radio?" 76.6 per cent said no and 23.4 said yes. In the second after readers had been deprived of their newspapers for another week the percentages were 89.2 no and 10.8, yes. In advertising, 79.1 per cent of women readers, first survey, said they missed it very much, 76.1 per cent said they did on the second survey.
