Due to limited competition the Democrats have but six offices for which the voter will have the opportunity to make selections of candidates, one of statewide scope and the other five confined to the county. The statewide campaign is that for the Democratic nomination for justice of the supreme court, three candidates being in the field. The incumbent judge, David W. Moffat, is opposed by two Salt Lake district opponents, Clarence E. Baker and M. J. Bronson, both district judges. In one of the county contests two incumbent commissioners, E. B. (Bry) Miller and D. A. (Lon) Tidwell, are opposing each other for the four-yeterm nomination. The other commission post, two years, has the following four Democrats battling it out for nomination: William Campbell, Price city councilman; Joe Dowd of Latuda, county leader of the CIO; Dr. C. R. Fahring of Helper, dentist and former commissioner, and B. L. Frand-se- n, member of the house of at the last legislative sesar repre-sentati- (Dick) Hill of Price, employee of the road department. Marl D. Gibson, a former county attorney, and Edward Sheya, incumbent, are the contestants for the Bourbon nomination for that post. The one who wins this nomination is practically assured of election this fall, the Republicans failing to enter a candidate for the post. A three-wa- y campaign is on for the county recorder nomination. Mrs. Katie Liddell, incumbent, faces Mrs. June Bartlett and Mrs. Agnes Johnson, both of Price, in what is believed to be developing into one of the most interesting races of the campaign. Republicans have no county or state contestants. Their only contest in the primary is that between Mayor J. Bracken Lee of Price and Frank Martines of Richfield for the party nomination for congressman. Correction of Statement In last weeks issue of The it was stated that D. A. (Lon) Tidwell was finishing his second term in office as county commissioner. We are advised that this is incorrect. Mr. Tidwell is completing his first term in office.
