County Bean Growers association. With the weather what it is, Mr. Wilson said, fields can fe ready for harvesting almost overnight. The right time to harvest is when about 50 per cent of the pod is turning white, regardless of whether or not they are dry. To wait even a day r two is to stand the chance of ing part of the crop through over rip- ening. Many bean growers have begun harvesting already, with excellent yields reported in the majority of instances The average yield will bably be around 1700 or 1800 pounds per acre, although Mr .Wilson reports that part of his land yielded nearly a ton to the acre With bean puces favorably high this year farmeis will do well to watch their fields carefullv, and make sure that hai vesting is done at the rigid time The time to start watching is wh n the pods begin turn yellow. and what a message they convey in this in stance !
