Qualifiers from NSHS are Kerry Baker, Bullriding and Team Roping; Marty Trapp, Saddle Bronc and Team Roping; AmberTrapp, Queen contest, Pole Bending and Goat Tying. Richfield High qualifiers are Shantell Ogden, Queen Contest and Cow Cutting; Kelly Buchanan and Jamcn Tebbs, Bull Riding, and Paul Baxter, Team Roping. South Sevier members include: Robyn Nielson, Breakaway Calf Roping, Team Roping and Goat Ting; Lannce Sudweeks, Steer 3, Salina Rodeo Queen entries being taken Entries are being taken for the Salina Rodeo Queen Contest. The contest will be held Saturday, June 27, at Salina High School. Competition will begin at 10a.m. with a fashion show and speeches. Speakers will address the questions, What is the Importance of a Rodeo?, and Is Rodeo Inhuman to Animals? Contestants will be required to model a Western skirt or Western prairie dress. Horsemanship knowledge will also be tested by answering questions from judges. Contestants will also have a short Crop personal interview with the judges. The horsemanship competition will get underway at the Salina arena at 1:30 p.m. T he Queen and attendants will be announced following the competition. The Queen will received a saddle, while attendants will receive a buckle. They will attend and perform at the July 3rd and 4th festivities in Salina.
