He is the son of E. Allen and Judy Thorsen, Salina, and a grandson of Harry Thorsen, Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Howell, of Vernal, Utah. Elder Thorsen is a 1989 graduate of Richfield High School, and has attended two years at Utah Valley Community College, Provo. Elder Thorsen will speak November 10, at 10:50 a.m. in the Salina First Ward. He will also speak November 17, in the Provo 45th Deaf Branch, 424 West 1200 South, Provo. He will enter the MTC on November 20, 1991. and Mrs. LaMar Fredrickson Missionaries called Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Fredrickson have received a call to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. They will serve in the Atlanta Georgia Temple Mission. They are the parents of there children, Kathy, of Kaysville, Utah, Glen of Price, Utah and Ross, who has deceased. They have five grand Elder Durfey children and one great grandchild. The couple now live in Price, Utah (358 North 5th East) but are former residents of Centerfield, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrickson will have their Missionary Farewell on Sunday, November 10, 1991 at 9:00 a.m. in the Price LDS Church at 545 East 400 North, Price, Utah. They will report to the MTC in Provo on November 11, 1991. Hat's Off to Helen Shaw at Senior Citizen Center Eva Andersen Helen Shaw is the Administrator for the North Sevier Senior Citizens Center, and I must say she is great. She is at the Center five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to be of service to Seniors. She will help them with whatever problems or questions they may have pertaining to the various programs for Aurora, Redmond and Salina Seniors. Helen has been a great influence, worker and friend to all who know her. She isn't just a 'good' person. She's the perfect example of love, concern and ambition. Helping and being of service to anyone who might need her assistance in any way. Her smile and cheerry greeting are the kind of nourishment we all need every day. Helen is not ony helpful in all these little things, she goes the extra mile in her rcspnosibliites in keeping the books in oder to better out center, and seeing that everything is done properly. Helen and her husband, Deloy Shaw, just returned a few weeks ago from a National Transporta-tionConfcrenin AAshville, NC in She has the position of Sevier County coordinator ce mid-Octob- New baby over the county's vans for transportation. Due to this position she has a reponsibility to attend this conference where she can review, and jfind information to better her job here at the Center. The conference is sponsored by Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). Helen says she received a lot of helpful information. Shes looking forward to next years conference which will be held in Park City. Come in to the Center and mectHelen and the others who also work here. Have lunch - we have great cooks - and ony ask that you call earlier in the day and let the cooks know you're coming so that enough can be prepared for everyone. After lunch there are always games, or pool. Enjoy an enjoyable and interesting day. Someone is always there for you. Helen will spend time with you or see that someone does, and I'm sure you will agree she will make your day. Thanks Helen for all you do for all of us wo work with you. The Shannon and Ferald Mason family, of Aurora will be switching from diesels to dolls this year, as they welcome their newest arrival, a baby girl! Kelsie Dawn was bom October 1991 at 1:20 a.m. in the Gunni6, son Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. Her four older brothers, Jonathan, Bryan, Weston and Denton are excitedly planning which one will spoil her first. President pro-ter-n Pam Williams, the meeting will be held in the Richfield City Council chambers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7. Up to 13 trustees may be elected, and officers are then elected from among the trustees. Williams was appointed by the county commission in March of 1990 to bring individuals together and discover the extent of interest in furthering economic develop- - Wy T f than 1,800 senior participants age 50 and over at the Games. Events included basketball, cycling, golf, swimming, tennis, table tennis, track and field, racquetball, road racing, softball, horseshoes, bowling, and biathlon during the two weeks of the games. Hamlisch was bom in 1945 in New York City. He attended Juil-liar- d School of Music at age 7, and graduated Cum Laude from Queens College in 1967 with a bachelors in musical composition. The couple was married November 4, 1941 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on March, 2, 1957. Que and Mathel have lived most in Redmond where Que has been in the farming and cattle business. They are parents of two daughters, and two sons, Mrs. Ronald Bosshardt, (Ellen), Glen Que Mickelsen, Myron A. Mickelsen, Redmond, and Mrs. Larry Streadbeck, (Norma) Kaysville. They have eighteen grandchildren and three of their married lives Quilters have surprise party for Senior Citizen's Center Director The Senior Citizen Quilters had surprise light refreshments last Monday, to help Helen Shaw, Center Director, celebrate her birthday. There are still some lovely quilts made by available at the Center the Senior Quilters. There are also some nice baby quilts for that new baby in the family or friend's - Anyone who likes to quilt is invited to join the Quilters on Monday and Thursday mornings. Taylor placed first in the 50-5- 4 age division. This year SL George hosted more ment through an increased focus of the arts. She pointed out that many communities in Southern Utah, most of whom had less potential than Sevier County, have developed the arts to their economic advantage. Sevier County has the potential to equal or surpass the best in the state in terms of facilities as well as people, she said. Mrs. Owens specializes in painting Indian subjects and the scenery of the Sevier County area. Dorisa had cleverly decorated her home with a Halloween theme. The program was presented by ha- daughter and Shauna and John Larsen, and two sons, Brian and Nick, of Sandy. They read the story, depicting each character, "Rubber Legs & White Tail Hairs," about the Ghost at Spooky Lake. The author of the book is Patrick F. McManus, who is known as "the Robert Benchley of the outdoors." Brian then read the poem, "The Cremation of Sam McGee."
