Michelle and Rod Nehring arrived from Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Salt Lake Airport where they were picked up by Michelles parents, Mike and Joye Robinson. They met Rosemary Daniels and her son, Shane, and traveled to the BYU-USfootball game Friday night. Saturday, a dinner was held for the Nehrings at the Robinson home. Attending were Rich Robinson and children from Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Picket and family; Dr. and Mrs. Ken Glover and family, and Elva Davis. The Robinsons look Michelle and Rod to Salt Lake where they visited the Walter Nehrings for two days before returning to Ann Arbor. U Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Mel Anderson and to attend the Mission Farewell for their son, Tyler, were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Spence; Mr. and Mrs. John Spence, and family, all from Wellsville; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Spence and family, Merdon, Utah; and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kirby, and family, of Hyde Park, Utah. Wilford Davies is home recuperating from an accident. Visiting at the Davies home have been Mrs. Marie Carter, Provo, and Janet Hunt from Caliente, NV. Mrs. Clay Westlund, SLC, has been here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Warren R. Jensen. They all attended the Jensen Cousins Reunion, in Gunnison. Mrs. Nelda Sorensen and Mrs. REDMONDNEWS FAYIETITE N1EW ; 529-535- 9 Jeanette Miller brought Marlin Sorensen home from the Payson Hospital, where Marlin underwent a second hip replacement since June. He is now home and recovering with an optimistic outlook that this one will be the one that does the trick. We wish him a speedy recovery and miss seeing him around town and at Salina Feed. Mrs. RuLeen Sheppard and two of her grandsons from Aurora, Bryan and Weston Mason, were in Sandy visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaw and attended the baptism of her grandson, Jaden Shaw. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Brad Sheppard. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Jensen were in Salt Lake City Wednesday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Sam Skaggs and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gold. Visiting the past week at the home of Mrs. RaeDean Woodside has been her two sisters, Mrs. Sena Faldmo and Mrs. Sophronia Richards both from SLC. They also visited their other sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Philo Madsen and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodside. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sampson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen took Ice cream and cake up to the patients at the Richfield Care Center to help celebrate their fathers 9 1st birthday - Roland Crane. Mr. Crane who is a resident of the Center spent the day visiting and celebrating his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Leeon Christensen have just returned home from a 10 day trip to Missouri where they visited LDS historical points of interest in Independence, Missouri. and Sunday visitors included were Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Robins, and family, of West Valley City, and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Robins and family, of Orem. Weekend guess at the home of Mr. and Mr. John Bartholomew, were Mr. and Mrs. John Davis and children, of Pocatello, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Johnson, SLC, and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Bartholomew, and family, of Cedar City. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lyman, were Mr. and Mrs. Delane Lambertson, of Parowan, Terry Lambertson and children, of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Christiansen, of SLC, and other relatives. Many relatives and friends attended Sacrament Sunday to honor Susan Bartholomew at her missionary farewell. The program was presented by her family and a group of her friends sang a song. After meeting a lovely dinner was served to a crowd of 80 people. Erda Willardson, of Tooele, spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Izolla Bartholomew, and they attended the Jensen Cousins reunion, on Saturday, in Gunnison. Darrell and Maxine Bolinder and their son, Ron, and wife, Cindy, and children of Erda, took, a sight seeing trip down through Capitol Reef, along the Burr trail, through Boulder Mountain, and over Hells Backbone, through Escalante and Kodachrome Basin, and Zions National Park and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Adam, Brandon and Michael Moore of Orem, enjoyed the weekend with their grandparents Ivan and Bessie Mellor. Mr. and Mr. Richard Harrop visited Thursday with Mr. Curtis Hislop in Ogden, and Mr. and Mrs. Royal Harrop, in Roy. Weekend visitors at the Harrop home of Richard and Ann, were Mr. and Mrs. David Mead, of Provo. Alisa Bown daughter of Bob and Janice Bown, was baptized Saturday at the Fayette Springs, by her father. Relatives and friends gathered for the occasion. A short program was held before the baptism and afterwards all enjoyed a lunch under the canopy at the Fayette park. Sunday, Alisa was confirmed a member of the LDs Church by her father. A family diner was served at Bob and Janices home for family members. Visiting last week with Floyd and Lorraine Thomas were Lorraines grandchildren, of West Jordan. Terrence, Jeff and Julie Smith. Julie is Lorraines daughter. Lorraines daughter Heidi DeBris, of Pasco, WA, is visiting with the Thomas for a few days. Izola Mellor has just returned home from the hospital and is doing better and wishes to thank all for their kindness to her and for their visits and well wishes. Visiting with Izolla at her home on S unday were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Lyman, of Spanish Fork. Visiting Saturday with Mrs. Fern Mellor were Wes and Ann Johnson, of Salt Lake, Ann is Ferns granddaughter. Other visitors included Carl Mellor and daughter, Lisa, of Lehi, and Mike Mellor, of Anna- bels. Visiting Friday and Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Christensen, was their son, Weldon, of Salt Lake, Josh, Derk, and Ryan Springer of Oak City, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Springer spent time with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Springer. Paula Quamberg was released as president with Leesa Besendorfer. and Sara Roper as counselors. Julie Wanlass was released as secretary. Dalene Hallows was sustained as Primary president with Teri Mason and Mickie McKenzie as counselors, and Dawnanna Topham as secretary. Lat Friday, A1 and Afton Peterson, accompanied by Afton s brother and wife, Vermile and Bessie Draper, Centerfield, met Aftons two sisters and their husbands, Lela and Ron Nelson, Murray and LaBerda and Murl Allen, West Bountiful, and daughter Jaqueline. They met at Ron and Lelas summer place, the El Nautica boat club, on the west shore of Utah Lake. All had a lively day visiting. Braden McBride graduated from Primary and received his certificate of Advancement. He also received his Gospel in Action pin in Primary. He will be ordained a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. He is the son of LaMar and Kris McBride. Ferald and Shannon Masons boys have a new baby sister. She was born October 6, 1991 and will be named Kelsie Dawn. . ijS&ifl 73GO In Aurora First Ward there is a new class presidency for the Laurel class. Mindy S haw is new president with Kathryn Gurr and Angela ! Freeman as counselors with Becky Mason serving as secretary. Neal and Dana Rae Coates have a new baby daughter also. This little lady was bom October 9, 1991. They think they will be naming her Cami. A new class presidency was also named for the Beehive class in the Aurora First Ward. Amanda Tuft was named president, with April Hunter and S hauna Larsen as counselors. Alisha Mason is the new secretary. Primary elections were held last week. Those who will be vying for the three vacancies on the City Council are Mark Freeman, Raymond Heagle, Hal Dee Jensen, Lawrence Mason, Royce Mason and Ivanna Stowe. Only 39 percent of Auroras people turned out for the Primary. Let s see if we can do better in November. This is a privilege to make our wishes known. The new fire truck arrived in town last week. John Johnson took advantage of the UEA weekend and took his children to Lake Powell for three fun filled days of water skiing, boating and sight seeing. Accompanying John was Trisha Johnson, Matt, Brendon and Jackie Hansen. Valerie Hansen came down from Midvale Sunday to take back the Hansen children and also Sabin and Skyla Johnson. Gordon and Tammy Johnson and son, Bartley, were in Salt Lake on Saturday. They visited the Delta Center open house before going to the airport to welcome their new foreign exchange student, Stephanie Jansen. She is from Germany, and will be attending North Sevier High for the school year. Luella Jorgersen had as company this weekend her son, Dennis Jorgerson, Las Vegas, and also her daughter Diane Jensen and girls, of Salt Lake City. March of Dimes seeking volunteers for campaign The Southern division of the March of Dimes is seeking volunteers to participate in their annual r. This Mothers March door to door campaign held in January, supports theCampaign for Healthier Babies to prevent birth defects and infant mortality. Last year more than $97,000 was raised by the Southern Utah division during their Mothers March. In 1991 two grants were awarded to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for the purpose of fund-raise- Crop & Number of days suitable for field work was 6.8. Soil moisture was 20 percent short, 80 percent adequate. Winter wheat seeding was 90 percent compete, compared with percent last year, and 8 1 average. Harvest for corn silage was 88 percent complete, compared with 82 percent average. In Utah, 1991 winter wheat production at4.7 million bushels is down 22 percent from 1990. Yield at 36 bushels per acre is 4 bushels per acre less than last year. Growers harvested 130,000 acres, down 20,000 acres from 1990. Production of spring wheat from the 23,000 acres harvested is forecast at 1.1 million bushels, down slightly from last year. The 49 bushel per acre yield is up 4 bushels per acre from 1990. Barley production at f.9 million bushels is down 7 percent Quilts of all kinds Whether you need a camp quilt, a beautiful nylontricot quilt, or baby quilts, the Senior Quilters have just the one for you. The ladies meet each Monday and Thursday to quilt and enjoy each other's company. Anyone interested in quilting is invited to join them. Harvested acres are down 10,000 acres to 95,000 acres. Production of oats for grain is down 25 percent to 616,000 bushels. Growers harvested 8,000 acres at an average yield of 77 bushels per acre. Alfalfa hay production at 2 million tons is up 6 percent from 1990. The average yield of 4 tons per acre is .2 tons higher than last year. Harvested acres at 490,000 are 5,000 acres higher than 1990 figures. Friday afternoon, the Redmond Varsity scouts, under the direction of Glendon Anderson, Randy Andreason, and Miles Anderson traveled to Zions National Park. Saturday morning they hiked the Narrows before returning home to Redmond. Cami Wilkins visited her parents, Carla and Kendyl Wilkins over the weekend. Released as Primary teachers on Sunday were Nichole Thurston, Alisha Mickelsen, Betty Miller and Luella Jorgerson. Sustained were Barbara Mickelsen and Tracy Bosshardt. Eric Williams, son of Burke and TerriLyn Williams was given his Primary Graduation Certificate on Sunday and was presented to receive the Aaronic Priesthood and given the office of Deacon. Carol Curry traveled to Salt Lake Friday to meet her daughter, granddaughter and daughter in law from Vernal to do some wedding shopping for the granddaughter. Sharon and Andy Hekking and son Joshua of Salt Lake visited over the weekend with Howard and Marjorie Jensen. They helped them harvest their potatoes- on Saturday. Joan and Doug Gillies enjoyed having their daughter Tracey Patcheck visit with them on the weekend from Colorado while her husband Michael was hunting. Tracey and Joan went to Salt Lake Saturday to see S hannon Wadstein. On Sunday Tracey, Joan and Doug went out to dinner in a late celebration of Joans birthday.
