He commented that he did have a girl friend and a sister living in Salt Lake but that neither of them ever even visited him in at Draper so he didnt feel that distance would play a part one way or the other. Prisoners are classified into six levels. This classification is based upon their attitudes not necessarily on the crime they committed. Level 1 being the worst and level 6 being those on work release programs. Currently the inmates being brought to Gunnison are level 3 prisoners of which one of the three housing units will be filled. The other two housing units will be filled with level 2 prisoners. As prisoners arrive full staffing at the prison in Gunnison will be achieved by October 16. Already work has begun in preparing for future facility construction at the Gunnison site. Because of a big facility used at Draper that was condemned several years, the Gunnison facility will be filled without disrupting many of the states contracts with county facilities to house prisoners because of lack of room. Also it is noted that the Gunnison Valley Hospital board is reviewing the contract to be the prison medical support facility with Dr. Jan Christensen being named as the physician in charge. illSg?
