The Young Women held their new beginnings Tuesday evening in the Relief Society room. JenSen Somewhere over the Rainbow was the theme and speakers talked on the New Personal Progress Program. The Young Women Recognition Award and te VAlues. kathy Robinson, Richfield sang a special musical number. Refreshments were served in the cultural hall. The girls were all given the new Personal Progress books. Ann Porter has learned that she does have cancer of the liver and lungs. It is in remission now. In another month she will go north and be checked again. We wish Ann the best Sue St. Pierre was hostess to herclub Wednesday evening. The ladies enjoyed French Dip and played Progressive rummy. Prizes were awarded to Tammy Hales, Sandra Nielsen, and Sherrie Taylor. A meeting was held Wednesday to introduce the program to all youth who want to be involved. The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 1, at Bonnie Andreasons home. If you are interested, you may attend this meeting. Kym Mickelsen has been 4-- H 529-755- 2 home visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mickelsen. Greg Bemis was sustained and ordained as a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. Here to help him remember this fun day was his grandparents, Bert and Inex Beeston, Fillmore. It was a double celebration as the Beestons were celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary Sunday. A bridal shower was held at the Joy Mickelsen home to honor Dani Susman before her marriage. Rex Nylcs was sustained as a teacher in the Sunday school. Shelly Lund was released as the organist in the Sunday School. Scott and Cynthia Wilkins were sustained for that position. Ann Marie Jensen has been visiting with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jensen. LeAnn Bosshardt and a friend were here over the weekend to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Bosshardt Neal Bosshardt, sen Jack and Mary Lois Madjust returned from a 5 day trip to Asilomr, California on the Pacific Grove. They attended a Farm Bureau Training session for leaders. They attended workshops, there were two buses from Utah going to the convention. A lovely Open House was held in the Mayfield Chapel last Saturday evening for Guy Adair and his wife Melissa Ann Levingston Adair. Guy and Melissa were married February 17 in Grantsville, Utah. A wedding reception was held in the grantsville Chapel that evening from 7:00to9:00p.m. The couple plan to of Mayfield. Bruce and Lee Ann Oliver and family of Farmington were Sunday visitors at the home of Murray Christiansen. Murray just returned from a stay at the Gunnison Hospital. On February 18, Lillie Lambertson was married to Alan - 528-756- 9 Ames of Ml Pleasant. A lovely wedding reception was held the same evening in the Mayfield Chapel. The couple will be living in Provo. They went on a honeymoon to Park City and Salt Lake. Lillie is the daughter of Max and JoAnn Lambertson of Mayfield. Gary and Leslie Williams and two children are moving from three days keeping doctor appointments and also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Valasquez, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Petty and Mrs. Ruth Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Zieger of Salt Lake City were here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Harward. Danette Daniels, a sophomore at Bear River High School in Tremonton won the girls 3A diving State Championship with 354 points which was 27 points higher tan second place. Mike and Joye Robinson, grandparents were in Provo to watch along with Dennis and Rosemary DAniels her parents and Great Grandmother Edva Davis. Danettes coach said this was the first State Championship for anything at Bear River High School in 42 years. Danette was also picked as athlete of the week at Bear River High School. student Mrs. Rulecn Shepard was in Sandy for the weekend visiting at the home of President and Mrs. Brad Sheppard and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaw and to attend a Drill Team Meet that her granddaughter Kristen Sheppard was in and then Kami Sheppard brought her home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaw were here to visit for a few days. Kami visited and then back to St George where she is attending college and the Shaws returned to Sandy. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Anderson of West Valley and Kurt Crane of Salt Lake were here for the weekend visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Crane. Evelyn Kiesel and daugh He was member of the UNWA for 50 years with the Spring Canyon Coal Company. He was Bishop of Star Ward for 15 years. A member of the high council in the North Carbon Stake for many years. Barbara Scott Paul Davies, son of Mr. and Mrs. Micheal Davies has received his mission call. Hes going to the California, Sacramento Mission. He was ordained an elder on Sunday and goes into the MTC on April 22. Darwin and Marilyn Anderson were visited over the holiday weekend by Marilyns brother and his wife, John and Lyla McKenzie of Elko, Nevada. Marilyns son in law and daughter, Scott and Mamie Simon, and their friend Nickcy joined them from Las Vegas. The McKEn-zie- s enjoyed their first visit to Aurora and meeting Darwins mother Alta Cowley and his sister Althea of Clearfield who was here visiting the family. Also here for the long weekend were Venoy Curtis on son in law and grandson, Earle and Chad Severance. They arrived on Sunday, did a little rabbit hunting and visiting and went back home to Sandy on Monday afternoon. Becky Mason, daughter of Allen and Libby Mason had a memorable 14th birthday Saturday. A group of her friends decorated her bedroom with banners and balloons, thpp bounced Ji?r out,of bed and took her to McDonalds for break-fas- L LeVern Jensen, 88 passes LeVern Jensen, 88, of Gunnison, died February 14, 1989 in Gunnison, Utah. He was bom March 26, 1900 in Centerfield, Utah to Henry and Linda Anderson Jensen. He married Myrtle Am toft. Mr. Jensen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Survivors include four brothers and four sisters: Walton and Raymond Jensen, both of Axtell; Clay (Bus) Laura Elvira Bills Jensen, Rex Jensen, Lucena Bates, Geneal Parsons, all of Salina; Midvale; Mrs. Carlyle (Lucille) Bird, Mrs. Carl (Faye) Lyman, both of Redmond. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 18, 1989 in the Gunnison Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Gunnison American Legion. Burial was in the Gunnison Cemetery under the direction of the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home. succumbs Laura Elvira Bills, age 66 of Cedar City died February 26, 1989 in the Dixie Hospital in Sl George, Utah. She was bom on January 21, 1923 in Axtell, Utah, to James Aronld and Ella Fern Nay Amtoft. S he married Carlyle T. B ills on May 8, 1942 in Axtell. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Laura was an active member of the LDS Church, working for many years in Scouting, in Primary, as a teacher, counselor, and President. She was also active in Relief Society. She was the second women ever to receive the 2nd Miler Award in Boy Scouts of America. She is survived by her lovof Cedar City and the husband ing her of eyes, 3 sons and 7 apples grandchildren. He was employed by the Mayfield Gunnison Cattle Company; Turkey Plant and assisted in surveying in the Mayfield area.
