DANIELS Q IVAN COWLEY Q The incident of rape throughout the nation has increased dramatically in the past ten years. Officers highlight the fact that rape is a crime of violence, not of passion, and that while most rapes happen to women in the 15 to 24 year old range, rapes often occur to those in older age groups. Most rapes happen during the summer and at night, and usually in ,the victims home. Rape is a crime as rapists look for vulnerable women. Some suggestions given are: Install tamper proof locks on doors. Dont place first names on mailboxes. Beware of being isolated and in lonely places. Walk with confidence when walking alone. Make sure car is in good repair with plenty of gas. Do not hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers. Officers advise that the rapist wants to have control of the situation, and women confonted should talk calmly. Dont antagonize or threaten to call police, they said. Glances of being raped are increased as women become more violent with the rapist. If a woman decides to use physical defense, they should attack the sensitive areas such as the groin, instep, throat, eyes, kneecap or stepping hard on the foot. The victim could also bite tender areas of the rapist, such as the lip or ear. A sharp object across the face could aslo te used on the rapist, thev advise. of opportunity, The Ballot will appear as above in voting districts: Annabella Aurora Venice 18 1, 2, Central HA, Glenwood 6, Siguard 16 and Race in There will be no Local School Board Redmond 10, Richfield 11, Richfield 12, Richfield 13, 20, 17, Richfield Salina 14, Salina 15, Koosharem Richfield 21, Richfield 22, Richfield 23, Richfield 24 and Salina 25 Non-Partis- an Elsinore 5, Joseph 7 & Monroe 8 & 9 there will be no House of Representative Race or a Local School Board - Non Partisan Race In a DeVon Poulson, Sevier County Clerk Auditor, do hereby certify that the foregoing is true copy of the Officail Ballot to be voted in Sevier County, Utah for the Primary Election on August 21, 1984.
