The girls must be between 10 and 14 years of age, and will compete in three divisions: Personal Interview; Evening Gown; and Talent. Mrs. Matheson, along with numerous out of town officials, participated in the day long conference held at the Sevier County Courthouse. Understanding Aging was the theme of the conference. ; According to Bonnie Bumgard-ner- , her son, Ross Bumgardner was in charge of the conference. Their purpose was to address the needs of the aging people in the area and over 100 were in attendance that day. she said. Salina Chamber officers change John Speer gave his farewell speech to the Salina Chamber members last Thursday at their monthly meeting at Moms Cafe. He resigned from his position as President, due to job relocation. Speers last call for Business, as President, called for the vote by acclamation that Lela Baker be put in as President of the Salina Chamber of Commerce. The voting was unanimous by the 20 plus members present. The new Salina Sun Publisher, Kevin Ashby, was then introduced, and spoke a few minutes on the importance of an effective community newspaper, and his plans for expansion and improvement in the future. Other items of business were then entertained by the group. The major event fast approaching is a Balloon Race coming up in Tammy Hales Seniors discuss aging fun packed afternoon with six hot air balloons flying through the area. A contest will put speed and flying accuracy to the test as the balloonists will have a pre-se- t course to fly around the City of Salina. Part of the contest will be to see if one of them can retrieve some keys to a new Chevrolet Truck from Tom Johns Chevrolet, from a pole. If the keys ARE snatched, they win the truck. If not, some other lucky person will receive the truck. After the Hot Air Balloon Race, the local Firemen will put on a Carnival for the young people in the area, with a Dinner planned for later in the evening by the Chamber. More information will be released by the Chamber next week.
