Miss Velma Jensen of Redmond, fortunately escaped what might have been serious injury early Sunday morning, when the car in which she and her companion, Clive Despain of Axtell, were riding, crashed into a car owned by Alonzo Jensen, also of Axtell, on the highway between Redmond and Axtell. Miss Jensen received many minor cuts and bruises on the face and arms. Mr. Despain fared worse. Besides being badly bruised he was seriously crushed on the chest, breaking three ribs. He was rushed to the Salina hospital and Miss Jensen was taken to her home in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Jenseh and five children occupied the other car and were all more or less cut and bruised, but there was nothing serious reported. The Despain car was return-sout- h after the dance when it met three cars. The glare of the lights partially blinded the drivers and the two cars, both new Fords, crashed, head-oThe impact forced the Despain car off the road and it rolled over three or four times. Both Miss Jensen and Mr. Despain were thrown out. Velma was found a few' feet from the wreck and Clive was found BO feet away. He did not regain consciousness until Sunday morning and was then taken to his home. n.
