Seven Minute Frosting If you have trouble overcooking and granulating frosting, you should get better results with this method. Beat the frosting mixture in the top of the double boiler over just simmering water, with an electric mixer, for about 3 minutes, or just until the mixture holds soft peaks or holds the beater marks. Then, lift the top of the double boiler out, place it on a towel on the counter top and continue beating with the electric mixer until the frosting is of desired stiffness, or until it forms and retains swirls when the beater is lilted. Freezing Pie Shells To save time, fuss and bother, you may prepare plain pastry of time. Roll circles of pastry about twelve Inches in diameter, and place two pieces of freezer wrapping material between each two pastry circles. You can wrap about six circles together with paper, and freeze them. When you need them, take out the required number of pastry circles, unwrap them and place one on each pie plate. During the time we are preparing 'the filling, the pastry circles thaw end let down" into the pie plates, and all you have to do is gently nudge them along, and shape as usual. The same technique is successful smaller pastry circles for tart shells, too. Macaroni Products Quite often we get poorly cooked macaroni products. These hints may help you to have a better meal if youre using any pasta product. Cook the macaroni or any pasta product to the firm-bcooked stage. Do not drain off the cooking water, then rinse in cold water, as it will chill the macaroni. The best method is as follows: As soon as the cooking is completed, remove the pot from the heat, and add 1 quart of cold water to stop the cooking. Then drain the pasta and turn it into a warm bowl. To quote Mr. Jerome; what other investment Mr. offers a 200 profit? Grady predicted that official recommendation for the use of commercial fertilizer will be doubled in the next few years. The plant, which is already in full production, manufactures ammonium nitrate, ammonium nitrate solutions and high analysis nitric phosphate complex fertilizers formerly supplied ta the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain areas by the companys Richmond plant. Fertilizers formulated in the Kennewick plant will be made by a process new in the manufacturing of complex pelleted plant foods. The process involves the use of nitric acid to break down the phosphate rock rather than the sulphuris acid formerly used. This simplified the manufacturing operations, and assures a higher plant food analysis. Fertilizers made by this patented process will be marketed under the Ortho Uni-plabel. Construction was begun more than a year ago after the Kennewick site was chosen from a number of proposed locations. Kennewick has easily accessible rail and water facilities, and is ideally located to serve the rapidly expanding agricultural areas of Washinton, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. The Kennewick plant is expected to become one of the firms major manufacturing centers. Other installations in the state include insecticide plants at Yakima and Wenatchee, which have been in operation for more than 10 years, and a formation plant in Seattle, that has been in operation since 1955.
