FOR SALE BLACKWALLS Years Activities Hear where the Sevier County Commissioners are thinking over the idea of tacking on the half-ctn- t sales tax option, with the money received to operate the hospitals. Can think of a lot of pros and cons on this plan. In t.ie first place, it is a fearful thought to even think of any more taxes, and Sevier County lias a selling point when they t. dont have this extra It is a lot of extra bookkeeping for merchants, and it means extra work in filling out the state forms. People with large families pay" the bulk of the tax, because they just have to buy more. On the other hand, just about everyone would pay something the more you with this plan more the you pay. People buy, with large families usually require more medical attention, and they would be paying more. a painless way It is out of with only a half-ceeach dollar spent. But, and here is the catch, would we be losing business to neighboring counties by invoking this extra tax, when they do not have the tax? Im afraid we would. We need hospitals in Sevier we need the two we County a have. For many years, the mainbeen has Hospital tained by the residents of North Sevier with taxes plus the money that has been taken in from hospital use. It was purchased by money taken in from public subscription. Richfield is larger than all of North Sevier, and they have a large drawing area. Maybe they could do the same as we have, rather than trying to have this county-wid- e sales tax invoked? If we want to keep business operating, Im sure it is time for NOT MORE.
