Unless the brakes are applied soon, cattle feeders could again be in trouble in 1957. Corn Belt cattle feeders bought 49 per cent more stockers and feeders in June, 34 per cent more in July, a whopping 119 per cent more in August, and 37 per cent more in September than in the same months of 1955. If all the feeder cattle still available at a price headed for feed lots this Fall and Winter, cattle feeders are in for a rough the last half of time price-wis- e 1957 or perhaps sooner. The present and near future looks fairly rosy for top choice and prime cattle, and not too bad for practically all fed cattle properly finished for their kind.
