Utah Girls To Compete For TO UTAH DAIRY FARMERS Following a tradition of more than 20 years standing, beautiful girls from counties throughout Utah will compete for a royal crown at the 1955 Utah State Fair, September 16th through September 25th. The beauty pageant, always a popular event at the Fair, will be open only to one candidate from each of the 29 counties in Utah, according to Harold W. Gill, Fair Manager. It will be a royal procession of queens, since each contestant will be a beauty queen or contest winner from the county she represents. Each candidate is to be selected at a county fair or other celebration, under the direction of a county fair committee, or by a committee selected by county commissioners dn the county, if no event is held suitable, to choose a queen to represent such county, Mr. Gill said. The winning Miss Utah State Fair of 1956 will reign over all activities of the State Fair, following her coronation, and will retain her crown until she crowns her successor next year. She will receive an all expense trip to Hollywood, and a ward-lob- e for the trip. The sponsoring county and the State Fair Association will be responsible for the Queens wardrobe, not to exceed $300.00. Official entry blanks must be filed with the State Fair Association as soon as the county candidate is selected, but not later than September 15th. Contestants must be residents of the county they represent. The candidates must be single, between 18 and 25 years of age, and a high school graduate or a senior at the time of the contest. A talent presentation will again be part of the beauty contest, according to Mr. Gill. A presentation may include singing, dancing, playe ing a musical instrument, talk on career aspirations or a dramatic reading.
