A program was presented, and an s interesting film shown by Andrews, taken while he was in the armed forces in Austria. Light refreshments were served to a large crowd. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Smith and son are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Armin Mueller, parents of Mrs. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Curtis received word last week of the arrival of a new grandson, born to Mr. and Mrs. Don Curtis in Salt Lake. It is their 2nd son. Mr. Shaw has been overseas for a year, serving in Japan. He was met in Hawaii three months ago by his wife and son. He will be discharged on arrival in the U. S. Eurl Lee returned Sunday from Texas, leaving Tuesday to return, after receiving a telephone call that his mother, whom he had visited, was very ill. Werd has been received of the birth of a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Heard in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 16th. The youngster tipped the scales at 7 pounds 11 ounces. Mrs. Heard is the former Sharlene Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adley Peterson. The Variety Club met at the heme of Sonoma Bosshardt, Wednesday evening. Prizes during the evening were won by June Bosshardt and Nathella Sorensen. Norman Larsen, a student at B.Y.U. was home over the past week end. The H & W Club met at the home of Vera Anderson, Wednesday evening. Pinochle prizes went to Una Christensen, Bessie Poulson and Arvilla Rasmussen. ErVin Christensen was home over the week end to visit relatives and friends. Dr. Ernel Jensen spent the week end visiting members in his family. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mills and daughters, Marilyn and Carolyn, accompanied by Mrs. Millie Batchelor, visited Wednesday at the Owen Jensens. Mrs. Batchelor remained, and the Mills family returned to Spanish Fork. Carol Ann Mickelsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mickelsen, celebrated her 7th birthday anniversary Feb. 11th. Bishop and Mrs. Marwood Hales spent Thursday in Salt by SAUNA SUN, SAL1NA, lTAH Accident Investigation Techniques To Be Brought Local Police During March traffic acModern cident investigation techniques and reporting will be carried to local police and sheriffs departments in a series of special police schools, commencing March 2nd. The schools will be under the joint sponsorship of the Utah Safety Council and the Utah reace Officers Association, and are one of the outgrowths of the series of traffic court conferences held last fall. The schools are being directed by the Utah Board of Vocational Education, which is also lending various U clinical services. The latest developments in accident investigation and reporting based upon the 1955 revised manual of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute, will be the basic instructional source, The instructors staff will be headed by Captain Rulon Ben- r.ion and Sgt. Jack Gridley of the Utah Highway Patrol, and will include police experts from Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden and Cedar City, and the former director of the Financial Responsibility Division of the Utah Department of Public Safety, BUS SERVICE n' of government. Follow-uclasses are being considered for further instruction on other phases, depending upon the success of the Initial scries. The schedule of the schools for Piute, Wayne, Sevier and Sanpete Counties is March 30th at Richfield, with Chief Max Snow, Provo Police; Sgt. An institute for the instructional staff was held at the State Capitol on Feb. 16th, at which the basic fundamentals of accident investigation were diseased, and tin general outline of the instruction plan adopted. Spokesmen for the sponsoring agencies emphasized that the schools will be affairs, and will concentrate on the basic fundamentals, and arc intended to acquaint all officers with those latest developments in accident investigation.
