Joy Crane, WAC, has received an emergency call to serve in the Army Air Corps for overseas duty, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orland Crane received information Monday that she had sailed from Miami Beach, Florida. Sgt. Crane has been in the service for two years, and was stationed at Maxwell Field, Alabama, when called for overseas duty. Sgt. Crane is the first girl from Salina to leave on foreign service. The purpose of Mr. Atwoods visit is to render assistance to persons over 65 who have worked in employment covered by the Social Security Act, who desire to file claim for social security retirement pension; also to accept claims from minor children and- aged wives of such persons or from the widow and of deceased persons who were covered under the Social Security System.
