Miss Freece, in relating the accident, said she was riding her bicycle and was on her way to the city on an errand. As she approached First West she saw the Carroll car coming north and making a stop at the intersection of First West and the main highway. Miss Freece had stopped and was resting on. her bicycle, and seeing the Carroll car stopped she started to get on her bike again. Just as she did, the automobile driven by (farroll started, and to avoid being struck Miss Freece turned sharp'y and headed her bicycle across the street. Notwithstanding her attempt to get clear of the approaching automobile, the driver, evidently much confused, continued, and at a point just north of the pavement jthe automobile crashed into the bicycle ridden by Miss Freece. Beth the lady and the wore the under bicycle caught auto and both were carried for nearly 125 feet, Carroll, apparently unaware of the predicament of the young lady, was making no attempt to stop, and did so only when Kenneth Hales, on the opposite side of the street, ran and motioned for the driver to stop. Rescuers were soon on the scene and it required the help of several men to lift the car from Miss Freece, whose body had been tightly wedged under the automobile. Mis. Afflick Bastian, a member of the clerical foice at the First State bank, Mr. Bastian and their two sons, Carl and Arno, left Fi iday for an outing and sightseeing trip.
