He Sugar and spite" is this sweet little birthday girl, Melissa Rae Cowley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Trent Cowley, of Salina. She will celebrate her very first birthday March 21st. I The children of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Nephi Anderson will honor their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house will be held at the Anderson residence in Center-fielUtah on Saturday, March 19th, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. They request no gifts. The Andersons were married March 19, 1927 in Gunnison. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are the parents of four chidlren, Mrs. Bryce (Maurine) Christensen, Christianburg; Clyde Miles Anderson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Hal Anderson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Paul (Gerda) Caldwell, Gunnison. They have 12 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson was born in Copenhagen, Amager, Denmark on the 25th of June, 1909, to Christian Thorstein Poulsen and Carlfine Bodel Jahn. Mrs. Anderson was christened Carla Kirsten Poulsen and immigrated to America in 1914. She attended school in Center-fiel- d and Gunnison. She has one brother, Carl C. Poulsen, of Manti, Utah. Mrs. Anderson has taught Primary and has also devoted many years teaching groups. She has shared her talents and hobbies with her family and many friends, each having in their homes keepsakes of her beautiful crochet, embroidered items, knitted articles and quilts. These talents she inherited from her mother who taught many classes to the 4-- local people of our valley when she arrived here from Denmark. Mrs. Anderson has worked at Christys Market, Mayfield Rest Home, and took care of two elderly ladies in her home. Mr. Anderson was born January 5, 1904 in Gunnison, Utah to Nephi Anderson and Emily Swalberg. He has two sisters living in Gunnison, Mrs. Ray (Marsha) Taylor and Mrs. Alvin (Elvina) Fjeldsted. Mr. Anderson has been active in the L.D.S. Church, serving as secretary in the High Priests Quorum, Sunday School Supt., Home Teacher, Choir member. He was also a member of the Town Board of Centerfield. He also enjoys reading good books about the L.D.S. Church and western history. He attended school in Gunnison. As a young man, he worked with his father in the sheep business. He later worked at the Gunnison Valley Sugar Factory, owned and operated a coal business with his two sons; also did farm work for Allen Frandsen and worked for Alvin Barlow at his garage and grocery store. At the present time, he works at the Ensign Knife Factory in Gunnison and has worked there for eight years. Through Mr. and Mrs. Andersons integrity, trustworthiness and willingness to work, they have never been without a job. The couple is active and enjoys traveling, fishing, camping, boating, and visiting with their children, family, and friends.
