An Forty-seve- n family members gathered December 4th in the Redmond Town Hall to honor the 80th birthday anniversary of one of the areas most beloved citizens, Niels Peter (Pete) Willardson. Dinner was served hours the and spent reminiscing. Pete, as he is affectionately known, was born in Redmond December 6, 1896, the son of Jacob and Sena Willardsen, emigrants from Denmark. He has lived his entire life in that community but has become well and affectionately known throughout the state in his varied activities. As a boy, he assisted his father in the manufacturing of table salt. In those days, vats were filled with salt brine and then processed into table salt. Pete then accompanied his father in a horse and buggy, traveling throughout Utah to sell the finished product. Idella married He Rasmussen in 1918, and three days later, he was called to active duty in the U.S. Army during World War I. He served six months in the U.S. Cavalry and was a horse shoer. His unit was headed for Siberia when the war ended. Mr. Willardsen later worked in a mercantile store, owned a butcher shop and operated the avid sportsman, Pete can still be found, on the coldest days, trying his luck at fishing on Redmond Lake. With the years adding up, he is not able to climb the hills with the younger folk in search of the wiley deer, but he still loves to hunt and goes where the vehicle will take him. Helping celebrate the 80th birthday was his wife of 58 years, sons, Arnold Willardsen, of Paul Willardsen, Richard and Redmond, of Willardsen, Granger; Mrs. Vernon daughters,' (Susan) Sorenson and Mrs. Betty Kane, both of Provo; and also grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Two daughters were unable to attend, Mrs. Irene DeMars, Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Dell (Madge) Greene, Gerlock, Nevada. He also has one brother, Anthony Willardsen, of Richfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Christensen, Salt Lake City; Nettie Humphrey, Provo; and Mrs. Algie Thurgood, Ogden. DUP Old Fort Camp Christmas Party Set The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Old Fort Camp will have their Christmas party Thursday, December 30th, at 2:00 P.M. in the Salina First Ward Relief Society Room. Everyone is invited to come. NewYears Eve Dance A New Years Eve dance, sponsored by Salina Stake, will be held in the Redmond Youth Center December 31st. The dance will begin at 9:00 P.M., with prices set at $5.00 per couple and $2.50, singles. This includes confetti, price refreshments, etc. The group playing for the dance is L.T.M. Mr. Washburn said that he was not aware that gun registration was required in Utah, but after having a constituent call this to his attention and determining that a section of the law did require registration at the time of purchase of all hand guns, he felt that this was the first foot in to total gun the door registration, and so decided to remove that requirement at this next session of the Legislature. I dont feel that any form of gun registration is desirable or that it will in any way contribute to the reduction of crime.
