Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Bird, of Granger, and Shelley Hawkyard, daughter of Mrs. Harrv (Darla) Young, of Kearns. Mrs. Williams visited in Riverton with her son. Clyde and his family. Happy Birthday greetings were in order Sunday, June 10th, for Esther Foster, in Salt Lake City, when her parents, John and Virginia Horne and her Ailnt Lola Bird joined the Bill Foster family to help Esther celebrate and enjoy a birthday dinner with her. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Alva Weyburn, of Layton. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Nielsen for six days were their brother Mr. and Mrs. Percy Poulson, of San Rafael, California. Their son and daughter-in-law- , Mr. and Mrs. Rex Nielsen and family, of Logan, spent the weekend w ith them. Attending the graduation exercises of Miss Sharon Briggs Saturday, June 8th, at Skaggs Hall in Salt Lake City were Mrs. Afton Briggs, Luann Briggs, Gerald and Fran Briggs, and Mike and Elaine Rose, of Annabella. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Ewles the past week were Blaine's sisters, Maude Crane, of Reseda. California, and Myrtle McCoy, of Escondido, California. John and Lola Ewles, of Westminster, California, are spending some time in Salina. Recently visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Simper were family members, including Mrs. Dean (Joy) Adams, of Loa; Mr. and Mrs. Brent Jensen and son, Martin, of Midvale; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Grimm and daughters. of Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ince, of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ince also visited with Mrs. Nora Simper and son, Blair. Visiting with Mrs. Luella Long last weekend were her son and daughter-in-law- Friday. June 7th, Virgie Nielsen and Thelma Okerlund motored to Orem, where they visited with Mrs. LaDawn Wind and family. Jerne Hatch and daughter. Jodie, of Granger, joined them for dinner. Virgie kept an appointment with her doctor in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Vernell) Schneidewind, of Covina. California, visited from Friday to Sunday, May 31st and June 2nd with Mrs. Dora Christensen. They were on their way to Yellowstone National Park and then to Washington to visit Clarence's daughter. Mrs. Max Anderson and family. They are also going to visit the World's Fair and then motor up to Marsha and their sons, John and Matthew, of Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Devoy Willden and family traveled to Cedar City Friday, where they attended graduation exercises for their daughter. Wendy, who attended Girl's State there. Grandma Mason is that little lady who is quiet, shy and never says much around strangers or large crowds. She is as good as gold to her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and others of her family and friends. "1 remember many a night or day when I'd get home with nothing to do, and just loved to go to Grandmas and visit with her and Grandpa. There was alwavs some delicious home-mau- e sugar cookies in a quaint little negro mammy cookie jar, which was always full of cookies, setting on the cabinet. On cold winter evenings, we would sit around the coal stove, pop and eat popcorn and visit while Grandma would be doing some kind of hand sewing or making quilt tops. She has made each of her 13 grandchildren a quilt top, along with many dresses and shirts for them. She has also done a lot of sewing for her silver-haire- Mother-Daughte- Salina Couple Enjoy Hawaii Sylvia Mason Mrs. Sylv ia Mason celebrated her 80th birthday Sunday, June 9th. at the Aurora Park, where all her family, except one granddaughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Allred, who live in Hawaii, met for dinner and an afternoon of visiting and playing games. Mrs. Mason was born June 10, 1894 in Glenwood, Utah to Abraham and Selena Ann Wall Shaw. When she was four years old, the family moved to Vermillion, where they lived until she was nine years old. They then moved to Aurora, where she has lived ever since, except the year she went to school in Ephraim and the half a year she went to school in Richfield. She married Aldon Mason on June 17. 1913. He died October 29. 19ti8. Many nice things can be said about this wonderful mother, grandmother and Her only granddaughter, Patricia, who couldnt be here to help celebrate, wrote her grandmother: about "Grandma would make special occasions, such as Christmas and Thanksgiving, extra special with all the delicious baking she would do. With her radiant personality, the holiday season and any special occasion would stand out in the minds of us all as a holiday we would never forget. Grandma is a very dear, kind person. 1, along with her other grandchildren, children feel and very blessed to have such a wonderful mother, grand and and friend. They left June 1st and returned June 9th on a flight, jet which accommodated 359 passengers, 129 of which were Utah residents. The Salina couple went on a Bob Welti Tour, in the company of Bob Welti, his wife and five non-sto- DC-1- 0 daughters. They visited the L.D.S. Temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center, where they r show. They enjoyed a thrilled to their flight to Maui and spent some time in Hilo. They went on a cruise to Pearl Harbor. They were awed, with the orchid gardens, the volcanos, craters and the two-hou- glass-botto- ship. Rapley and Vaneda are happy and grateful for the wonderful they enjoyed in experiences Hawaii, "a paradise on earth." Grand Daughter Graduates With Honors Regina Grimm graudated from Kearns High School Tuesday, June 4th, with the honor of having maintained a straight A, (4.0), average throughout the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades. She was the Valedictorian of her class and was awarded the Pin. Regina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger (Lcta) Grimm, of Kearns, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Simper, of Salina. She is currently the treasurer and manager of Kearns High Student Credit Union, a member of F.B.L.A. and D.E.C.A. She is the manager of the Kearns High Book Store and serves as head secretary of the Kearns Community School. Miss Grimm's hobby is handicrafts of all kinds. Her future plans include studying to become an executive secretary. She will attend Utah Technical College.
