Show The Salina Sun March 23, 1972 7th Grade Science Scene MARJORIE A few weeks ago, we left you M1CKFLSEN PHONE 529 - 3390 Mr. and Mrs. Whitney Chris tensen came home Tuesday from California. They visited their children, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Christensen and family in Livermore. RICHARD Relief Society had its birthday party Tuesday afternoon. A film entitled "Helps for Am y was shown. Lee Jensen run the film. Una Hales gave her lesson on homemaking; Marjorie Mickelsen played a medley on the guitar. Luncheon was served on gaily decorated tables. Irene Christensen and Reva Sorenson did the decorating and Gladys Peterson, Ella Lee Lund and Betty Miller prepared and served the luncheon. The M.I.A. boys went to Salt Lake Tuesday to play ball. Terrel Nelson, Bishop Douglas Jensen and Ronald Bosshardt took them. They lost their games and came home Wednesday night. Mrs. Adley Peterson went to Las Vegas with ber children, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Peterson, when they came Saturday of last week. The Ward had a fund raising banquet Wednesday evening. Ward members were asked to furnish and the auxiliaries helped with the serving and cleaning up. The Mutual girls waited on tables. A very fine musical program was brought from Salina. Wilma Sorenson and Anora Mortensen brought their groups with a variety of songs and dances. The funds received will reroof the chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Heath and baby were in Salt Lake Tuesday to watch the boys play ball. Mr. and Mrs. Udell Johnson went to watch the boys also. Hospital In Logan, weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz. The proud parents will name their son Dustin Ward. Great grandparents are Mrs. Effle Scovil and Mr. and Mrs. Morrill Robins, Salina; Mrs. Wave Hinckley Gardner, of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Ora Gardner, of Delta. little pink bundle arrived at the Richfield Hospital on March 19th. The little girl is A the daughter of Stan and Carolyn Wood, of Lyman. She weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. Her name will be Mlndi. Grandparents of the little Miss are Mrs. Luella Vernon Long, Long, Salina; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Orem; Wood, of Lyman. A albert Waters, Mrs. Allen Crane, Mrs. Errol Mickelsen and Mrs. Mark Pickett went to Salt Lake Thursday to attend the wedding of Terry LaMar Christiansen and Sherri Elaine Brown. Terry is the son of Beaulah Christensen and the late LaMar Christianson. They visited Mrs. Pearl Ovuiuue in Salt Lake, too. Vernal Nelson and May C. Barney, of Richfield, were married Saturday at her home. Members of both families were in attendance. A dinner followed and a dance at night in the Richfield First Ward. After a honeymoon trip, they will make their home in Redmond. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Anderson, Provo, got a baby boy Sunday, March 19th, weighing 8 lbs. 10 oz. Grandparents for the first time are Mr. and Mrs. Miles Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Crane, of Salina. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Jensen and Mrs. Ferneth Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allred, Centerfleld, are great grandparents. Sheila Wlllardsen and friend. Jim Riley, Salt Lake, came for the wedding and visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Willardsen. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dicker-so- n and family. Salt Lake, came for the wedding and weekend at Mr. and Mrs. Byron Jensens. Mr.and Mrs. Myron Mickelsen, Salt Lake, were at the Que Mickelsens and attended the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Pickett, Provo, came and visited over the weekend with the Max Petersons and Bronzell Picketts. Sunday evening program High Council Hugh Bird took charge. Seminary students, Gaylen Larsen and Timothy Dahlsrud, spoke. Homer Christensen spoke and Clair Madsen sang The Blind Plowman, accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Arlen Madsen. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jensen, Salt Lake, were here for the wedding of their brother, Vernal Nelson. His children, Mr. and Mrs. PauUs Peterson and family were here for the wedding and they visited Mrs. Alean Kearns. Mr. and Mrs. David Myrup, Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Nielson and family, Sandy, came to celebrate the birthdays of Carla and their father, Henry Sorenson. Mrs. Sorenson had dinner for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Poulson and baby, of Hyde Park, Utah, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace The Wallace Poul-soPoulson. were hosts to a family dinner Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. MerrD Deaton, of Weston, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. John Deaton, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Campbell, Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Poulson were guests. Wallace Poulson was chosen one of eight in the State to attend a Six Western States Safety Conference in Helena, Montana all this week. Mr. and Mrs. Powell Johnson and family, Salt Lake, vins sited her mother, Mrs. Von-te- ss Jensen over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. La Var Cooke, of Richfield, visited Sunday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Seely. wondering about the man with the pan of old oil, remember? Well, here's the answer. First, to refresh your memory, here's the question; A man put a pan of old engine oil behind his garage. Five months later, in December, he checked on it and found a pan of ice. Why? The answer is: As precipitation fell, the oil rose, because oil is lighter than water, it will float on it. After so much precipitation had fallen, the oil came to the top and overflowed. This continued until, when December came, no more oil was left, ( it had all overflowed andthus Hie water froze. So much for that! Our projects are weU underway, and the Science Fair is coming up on the 12th of April. There are many different kinds of projects being made, from electricity to plants. He was born the morning of March 17th and he weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. The new baby has a brother named Justin. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. France (Derb) Wood, of Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Rasmussen, of Bountiful. The little boy has a great grandmother, Mrs. LueUa Anderson, of Gunnison, and agreat grandmother, living in Provo. It was a boy for Ron and LaReta Blackham, of Hunter, Utah. His name wiU be Jeremy. He was born on March 16th in the Cottonwood Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. He has a sister named Rhonda. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Blackham, of Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. Junior Seely, of Cedar City. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Seely, of Redmond. Dorothy and Ray spent Sunday at Hunter and visiting the hospital and getting a peek at their little new grandson.
