Possibly the greatest basketball player ever to come out of our school was playing then, Trixie Jorgensen. Then Joe Anderson acted as principal and coach for a short time. Ernest Hansen replaced Coach Anderson and he instigated football at the school. Next a man by the name of Swenson came along and handled the coaching. Now we are getting to the time I can remember. Richardson moved into the coaching helm and coached for a number of years. Paddy Davis was the next coach. He coached at the time of Briant Burgess and Co. Next came Les Wright. He was the coach while I was a Junior in the old school Seth Parkinson came along my senior year and coached for one year. He had some good luck and moved along. Floyd Kotter came to the school and he had the hot shooting crews and this was the time of Clyde Okerlund and Co. Furlong replaced Kotter and he coached the likes of Roger Nielsen and Co. Then came a red head by the name of Hugh Bird. He coached for eight years and was not able to win the championship. Dent Sorensen replaced Bird in 1952 and he was unable to win all the apples at the State. And so what do you know. Paul Beck came along in 1970-7- 1 and took agreat bunch of kids to the state and won all the marbles. Some have asked me how it felt that they have won. Man, I am the happiest. I can say nothing more than congratulations to Coach Beck and the way he has brought a state championship to North Sevier School. To the boys: They have been simply great. They played very inspired and had the guts to get the job done. I believe in these tions from the many people who young men and their coach. So I say, "Better things to were there.
