Hearing on the case was held July 8 and the decision of the judge whether tocontinue the case Into court was promised by July 1 5, but was handed down early due to the nearness of the opening of school. Ruling of the judge in favor of the Board of Education closes the case unless an appeal is made to the Utah Supreme Court. Indications, however, are that the case will not be appealed and the plaintiffs, Mr. Wasden and Mr. Johnson, will not carry the complaint to the higher court. The hearing resulted from the announcement by the Board of Education that Aurora and Redmond Elementary schools would be consolidated with Sallna comschool mencing In the 1966-6- 7 EleElsinore and the that year mentary school would be consolidated with Monroe. Aurora citizens opposed the action for their particular school pointing out they had an adequate school plant and a projected Increase in enrollment. In addition, loss of their school or a school in any community takes away from the culture of that area. School Board members pointed out they felt the education advantages would be better with consolidation and state funds would be lost If the smaller schools were not consolidated. allocation from the federal government will be used to carry out various projects within Sevier School District.
