It shall be unlawful for any owner, proprietor, clerk or jierson having the regulator temporary charge of any hotel, hoarding house, rooming house or lodging house w hieh has sleeping rooms designed for the use of guests, 1. To fail at any time to keep a register for the registration of the names and places of residence of guests; or 2. To jiermit any guest to occupy any such sleeping room w ithout first requiring such guest to write his or her name and place of residence in said register; or 3. To fail at any time to keep said register open to public insjiection. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of an oflense, and, uion conviction thereof, shall lie punished by a fine in any sum less than fifty dollars, or by imprisonment in the city jail not exceeding thirty days, or both so fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the court. Section 2. This ordinance shall be in force and ell'ect upon its first publication. Passed by the city council of Provo City, Utah, this 8th. day of June, A.
