Starting Nov. 9 at Holy Cross, there will be quilting sessions held, beginning at 9 a.m. The purpose is to make quilts for the Vietnamese family that the CMC churches are sponsoring. Plans are to have work sessions each Wednesday for the following two or three weeks. All interested persons willing to give some of their time to this project are invited to attend. Sunday, Nov. 13, the high school youth will be going to a rally-rall- y at Elim Lutheran church in Ogden, from 2:30 to 8 k p.m. There will be a dinner. This meeting will give the youth from all the Utah cluster churches a chance to get better acquainted and also to make preparations for the big rally in California, Jan. An invitation is extended to all in the community to join us for worship each Sunday morning. Following the worship services a coffee hour is held downstairs where Christian fellowship is extended to all. pot-luc- Daughters Stephanie and called youth club is coming to the Aldersgate and Tremonton UMC. This program which provides an opportunity for recreation, choir, Bible study and dinner has proven itself in over 2,000 churches across the country. All parents with young persons in grades seven through 2 will have an opportunity to learn more of this program and to register their eligible young persons for the program by attending a special meeting Sunday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Corinne Methodist Episcopal building. Worship for Sunday at both congregations will center on a chancel drama with a cast composed of young persons from the Cooperative Ministry Council. The Rev. Ronald Kowalski will lead the liturgy at both services. A community Thanksgiving service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 at First Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. donated for The Solid Rock The Solid Rock, 435 East Seventh South, has received a check in the amount of $2000 as a Love Compels Action grant social ministry chairman for the church; and Carolyn Broman, Lutheran representative on the Solid Rock board. The Solid Rock is a Synod of the Lutheran Church in corporation which is interdenomination and ecumenical on all policy-makinand operational levels. Based in the former Protestant Student center, The Solid Rock was reorganized in 1976 upon completion of an exploratory research study, which emphasized unmet human needs in the community and the potential for meeting those needs. Focus of the Indian student program has been for The Solid Rock to serve as an oasis providing support for from the Pacific Southwest America. Eldon Coffman, director of the Solid Rock, states that these funds will assist in the various programs conducted at the center especially the Protestant student ministry to Native American students at Intermountain school and the New Life club for elementary children. Jim is sorry he was unable to come to Brigham City on Oct. 27 to his last scheduled meeting. A good friend of Jims and of the young people from the Coffee house passed away and Jim was in charge of the service for him. The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Full Armor would be on Thanksgiving day which has been cancelled. Jim will be up twice in December, on the 8th and the 29th so mark those dates on your calendar. Jim wants to invite all to attend the weekly meetings of teaching and praise at the Full Armor Bible Institute at 811 East 33rd South in Salt Lake City. Every Tuesday and Friday evening at 8 p.m. and on Sunday morning at 11 Jim or a guest will be teaching on life in the spirit according to I Cor- - legal problems, drugs. Many Indian, Chicano and low income children in the area have parents who work and, as a result, are untended after school until their parents return k home. A group has been ogranized for these youngsters providing such activities are gardening, cooking, recreation and fellowship. Frances Jones is program coordinator of this phase of activities. p The Indian Community project is designed to encourage Indian residents to form a supportive community (n which they can find friendship and acceptance and enable them to meet their own needs as a culturally, religiously and ties, with the Solid Rock providing facilities, staff support, and volunteer help as requested. Program coordinators are Rose Curley and Betty Perry. Also under the umbrella corporation is the Box Elder Community Pantry which assists people in need of immediate, emergency help. These include individuals and families with limited income who suffer unexpected major expenses, people for who immediate public assistance is not available, and transient individuals and families with little or no funds. Pantry workers are all volunteers, who help find the immediate material help in the form of food, lodging, transportation, or clothing and also to find available community assistance sources. People Who Care is a program designed to provide a forum for exploring and defining community problems and finding, w?ys to make changes to deal with those problems. George Kirchoff is program coordinator. Although not a part of The Solid Rock program, the building also assists the community by housing the adult day care program for handicapped adults in the area. Assisting Director Coffman is Tom Guyer, Brethren Service volunteer. They are the only paid staff at The Solid Rock. An interesting note is that Coffman came as a Brethren volunteer more than 20 years ago, and has stayed to witness the change and growth of the facility. once-a-wee- Self-Hel- Mini-baza- The Relief society organization is busily preparing a minibazaar which will be held Nov. 16, with supper beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the ward cultural hall.
