Sheepmen look at lambing as, one is good, two is better and three, well, thats terrific. Mrs. Betty Braegger in Willard has had a terrific year, then, with her flock of 40 ewes. Shes had five sets of triplets this year and expects more. And of the lambs to date, three have been singles and the rest twins. The totals have actually come from 31 head since nine of her 40 head are too young to lamb this season. Mrs. Braegger started raising sheep 18 years ago, beginning with 11 bum lambs. She sold the whethers and bought replacement ewes and the business was begun. When triplets began showing up, she kept the triplet ewes and used them to build breeding stock. Like all good farmers, she keeps the young of the good producers and its starting to pay off in big dividends. Ill have way over 200 percent lamb production this year, she predicts. Most herds the size of Mrs. Braeggers will have a set or two of triplets, but seldom as many as five. She has at least one more ewe with a good track record for triplets and expects a trio of wooley babies from her. Her husband Jim works at Hill Air Force base and farms along side, raising cattle. He pretends not to know anything about sheep, leaving that to his wife, she says. Mrs. Braegger has a few other animals around, numbering chickens, ducks, goats, hogs wifiiii; FIRST 4 M .
