Harris E.T. and Ora Hoskins, retired postmasters, were guests of honor at a community dinner and party at the ward cultural hall Friday evening with Fern Hall and Velda Harris in charge. A chicken dinner was served on long banquet tables decorated with spring flowers and streamers of green and yellow to 75 guests after which a clever program was presented with Chester P. Neal as master of ceremonies. The program was based on the Match Game and the guests of honor were penalized by dancing the minuet. Ila Mae John presented a trie bute to Mrs. Hoskins and Harris presented a tribute to her husband. Faye Morris played a medley of Primary songs and Marlene John sang Memories to the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins were presented with a beautiful silver tray in appreciation for their long years of service to the community from the people of Portage. At the conclusion of the evening the group enjoyed dancing. He went there Monday to clean grain for Blaine Harper at his farm when a blizzard hit and they were snowed in until Thursday with six foot drifts. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wiser of Eden, Idaho were weekend guests of Mrs. Wisers paretns, Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal. They also went to Salt Lake Ctiy where they attended a wedding reception. Monday night the Golden Spike Swingers will have their seventh anniversary party given by Roy and Lucille Westley, directors and callers who have been volunteers for seven years.
