Show Tremonton Tales by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Rytting entertained at a luncheon at their home Tuesday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Miller prior to their leaving to spend the winter months in Mesa. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Rogers, Dr. and Mrs. D. B. Green, Mr. and Mrs. Larain Marble. A social was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Miller left Monday morning for Mesa. The Tremonton Literary Guild met at the home of Mrs. Beverly Edvalson Tuesday evening. Mrs. Jessie Van Sweden gave an interesting review of Erma Bombecks book entitled, Wait Until You Have Children of Your Own. Mrs. JoAnn Rich was a special guest. Light refreshments were served. Elder Douglas Morrison will arrive at the Salt Lake airport this evening (Thursday) He will be greeted by his mother Mrs. Vernell Morrison of Tremonton and his brother Don Morrison of Provo. Elder Morrison has spent the past two years in the Netherlands serving an LDS mission. After his release he, along with a group of missionaries were given permission to visit the Swiss and London temples before returning to the States. Ann and Robert Puzey of Ogden spent the weekend visiting their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Cochran while their parents were attending a UEA convention in Salt Lake City. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Reid Oyler and her family in the passing of her husband. Reid was known as one of the most reliable and outstanding building contractors in this area. A group of ladies from the Relief Society Stake presidency and the board members attended Relief Society conference in Salt Lake City during the annual conference. Funeral services were conducted in the Magna Ward chapel Tuesday for Mrs. Emma Puzey mother of Garland Puzey. Mrs. Eliza Holland has returned home after spending the past three weeks visiting her granddaughter Mrs. Eddie Dayton and her husband in Cokeville, Wyo. Val Don Bennett who is attending USU in Logan spent the weekend visiting his mother Mrs. Celia Bennett and family. Tremonton-GarlanThe Bridge club met with Mrs. Mildred Baer as hostess Tuesday evening. Mrs. Vera Westergard was a special guest. Prizes went to Mrs. Shumway and Mrs. Faye Watkins. A dainty dessert was served. Fun The Tremonton-Garlan- d club met at the home of Mrs. Brown Nedra Thursday evening. A lovely luncheon was served. The evening was spent doing handiwork. New officers who will preside for the coming year are: Wanda Nelson, d president; Norma Thomas, Edith Timothy was retained as secretary and Hazel Rose as reporter. Mrs. Clifford John, Mrs. Leland Woodruff, Mrs. Eliza Holland, Mrs. Thelma Iverson accompanied by Mrs. Anna Heaten of Ogden spent Sunday visiting Mrs. Charlet Gibby in Mendon. The occasion was Mrs. Gibbys 82nd an- birthday niversary. It was also the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Leland Woodruff who was born on her mothers birthday. The group sang Happy Birthday to Mrs. Gibby and showered her with nice gifts. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McMurdie Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nowalk and son Mark of Centerville. Darre.sne Lewis who is State enrolleo at Utah university in Logan was chosen by members of the Kappa Delta sorority to represent them as a candidate for the homecoming queen. She has been selected as one of the 15 finalists at the present time. A dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Miller and family Sunday for Dennis parents Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Miller who left Monday for Las Vegas to spend a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Garfield and family enroute to Mesa to make their home for the winter months. Other guests included Mrs. Rayola Wise and daughter Rhonda of Ogden, Cheryl Miller who is attending Weber State College, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Doutre and children Scott, Wendy and Blaine, Mr. and Mrs. Byran Wood. Mrs. Elva Korth, Mrs. JoAnn Allen and family spent Friday visiting Dr. and Mrs. Richard Baird in Murray. At Farewell Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wheatley and family were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Wheatley of Salt Lake City. They came especially to attend the testimonial for Gaye Wheatleys brother Dell Stokes who is leaving for an LDS mission in Guatemala. The testimonial was held in the Bothwell Ward chapel Sunday evening. Elder Stokes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Deloris Stokes. Mr. and Mrs. Max Walker and Mayor and Mrs. Max Mason attended the homecoming football game at BYU in Provo Saturday. That evening they attended the Field House Frolic held in the Marriott center on the campus. They returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Callister along with Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Callister of Logan attended the football game between USU and Colorado State at Romney Stadium in Logan Saturday. Returning Sunday from an enjoyable week vacation in Portland were Mr. and Mrs. Conley Christensen. They and visited their daughter Mr. and Mrs. David son-in-la- (Gayle) Culver and family. Members of the VGF Club met at the home of Mrs. M. P. Christensen Tuesday evening. Special guests were Kathleen Gaschet and Lucille Robbins. A lovely luncheon was served and the evening spent in handiwork. New officers for the coming year are Arlene Ficklin, president; Pheobe Henrie, secretary. Retiring officers are Dorothy Kerr and Bessie Calderwood. Spending Sunday in Granger were Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Conger and Teri. They visited the Congers daughter, Mrs. Connie Richardson. Spending Monday visiting Mrs. J. H. Rhead and Mrs. Melvin Foxley was Miss Vivienne Smith of Logan who has recently returned after fulfilling an LDS Texas mission. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Francom Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Craig Woolley and son Cabot of Ogden. Phone Present Provision law, the Governor, Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruc- tion shall consistitute a Board of Reform School Commissioners. Said Board shall have such supervision of all matters connected with the State Reform School as may be provided by law. Section 16. Duties of The Secretary of State. Secretary of State shall keep a record of the official acts of the Legislature and Executive Department of the State, and, when required, shall lay the same and all matters relative thereto before either branch of the Legislature, and shall perform such other duties as may be provided by law. Section 17. Duties of Auditor and Treasurer. The Auditor shall be Auditor of Public Accounts, and the Treasurer shall be the custodian of public moneys, and each shall perform such other duties as may be provided by law. Section 18. Duties of Attorney General. The Attorney General shall be the legal adviser of the State officers, and shall perform such other duties as may be provided by law. Section 19. Superintendent of Pubilc Instruction. The Superintendent of Public Instruction shall perform such duties as may be provided by law. Section 20. Compensation of state officers. The of Governor, Secretary Treasurer, State, Auditor, Attorney General and such other State and District officers as may be provided for by law, shall receive for their services monthly, a compensation as fixed by law. The compensation for said officers as provided in all laws enacted pursuant to this Constitution, shall be in full for all services rendered by said officers, respectively, in any official capacity or employment during their respective terms of office. No such officer shall receive for the performance of any official duty any fee for his own use, but all fees fixed by law for the performance by either of them of any official duty, shall be collected in advance and deposited with the State Treasurer monthly to the credit of the State. The Legislature may provide for the payment of actual and necessary expenses of said officers while traveling in the State in the performance of official duty. (As amended November 5, 1946, effective January 1, 1947; November 7, 1950, 7, November effective 1950.) Section 22. The great seal. There shall be a seal of the State, which shall be kept by the Secretary of State, and used by him officially. Said seal shall be called The Great Seal of the State of Utah." The present seal of the Territory of Utah shall be the seal of the State until otherwise provided by law. 23. United Section States officials ineligible Governor not eligible for senate. No person, while holding any office under the United States government, shall hold any office under the State government of Utah, and the Governor shall not be eligible for election to the Senate of the United States during the term for which he shall have been elected Governor. As the winter driving season approaches, the Utah State of Highways Department reminds motorists that the use of studded tires is permitted in Utah only from October 15th to March 31st. The 1973 Legislature, in setting these dates, also levied a tax of one dollar per tire or one cent per stud, to pay for some of the damage studs do to Utah highways.
